Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness Part 7 walkthrough. Keep all heroes alive and defend your base against relentless assaults.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Place Alleria and Khadgar to the top left of your base for normal troops and dragons respectively.
  2. 2
Position Turaylon to the middle for healing.
  3. 3
Place Danath to the right for main assault.
  4. 4
Leave Khurdran in a safe location as he is of little use and cannot afford to get him killed.
  5. 5
When a wall falls, build a tower. When a tower falls, rebuild it, and consider placing a farm in front of it to draw enemy fire.
  6. 6
Send lumber peasants to the bottom of your base, as the enemy never seems to attack there.
  7. 7
Upgrade your base as quickly as possible without leaving any breaches undefended for long.
  8. 8
Dragons will almost always attack from the north along the left half of the wall, usually the top left corner.
  9. 9
Once you can get three mages (Khadgar counts as one) into the top left, you can deal with all the dragons.
  10. 10
Have five or six paladins (including Turaylon) on healing duty, prioritizing Khadgar and Alleria.
  11. 11
Place towers from just below the left entrance around the corner and just beyond the top middle, ensuring a peasant can reach them for repairs.
  12. 12
Assign at least two peasants to constant tower repair duty.
  13. 13
Prioritize Archer upgrades over melee upgrades, as towers will handle melee damage. Melee upgrades are more important than ranger upgrades, as Alleria does not benefit from them.
  14. 14
If you have free gold, build spotters. Place one on the rocks to the left of your base to spot death knights and tie up trolls.
  15. 15
Place another spotter to locate the mine off the bottom left of your base.
  16. 16
Build archer towers beyond this new mine, ready for peasant slaughter. Only start mining this new location if your original mine has a few thousand resources left.
  17. 17
When you have four or five towers near the new mine, send Danath and a couple of paladins down to deal with trolls gathering by the first spotter.
  18. 18
Wait for peasant slaughters to begin, as assaults will nearly dry up during this time. Expect troop waves to take a while as both white and green pull from the same large mine.
  19. 19
After about ten minutes of peasant slaughter, start building a normal force with full upgrades to attack.
  20. 20
Destroy green and then white forces, carefully checking the entire island for stragglers.
  21. 21
Prepare to assault purple. Use ships and land troops, as purple has a single oil patch they do not seem to use.
  22. 22
Check for a peasant build-up on the left side of purple's island to confirm they are running out of money. Move in and kill everyone. Purple usually has few troops and un-upgraded units.
Tips
  • Fortunately, some upgrades are free, such as paladin healing and exorcism.
  • The main danger is death knights. If you see Death and Decay start, immediately have a paladin cast exorcism into the dark at the left of where you see it. The death knight will usually run, so send knights after it.
  • Be careful of trolls when chasing a death knight.
  • White will send their peasants to either the new mine or your old one. With enough towers, this can be another peasant slaughter.
  • Green will usually head straight for you, so they may never bother the new towers.
  • Danath is in a good position to take out trolls and retreat out of sight before the next wave to be healed by paladins.
  • On this level, you almost certainly have to wait for the peasant slaughters.
  • By the time you have cleaned up green and white, purple has usually run out of money.
  • As normal for a dragon producer, purple will have few troops and probably didn't even upgrade them.

Note: This section also includes details for "3.1.11 DANCE OF THE LAUGHING SKULL", which involves leading orcs with human heroes and troops. First, head north to the yellow base to gain their forces, then immediately head left to defend against blue. Build 6-7 towers on this main attack route and 3-4 towers defending the south of your main base. Start churning out towers and upgrades, noting that human heroes also receive these upgrades. Once you have towers and ogres to deal with catapults from the left, start exploring. Leave a spotter near the first lumber mill to watch for white's death knights. Once you have death knights yourself, place a skeleton in the small indent north of your left towers to draw catapult fire. Catapults will always target the skeleton first, giving you more reaction time and potentially smaller tower repair bills. Do not bother trying to dump runes in the catapults path.
