Your guide to 'The True Enemy' mission in Dawn of War II. Learn how to defeat the Eldar Warlock and secure the Communication Array with your squad.

Alright, this mission, 'The True Enemy,' is a bit of a curveball. You're going to be heading north right away, and you won't have Cyrus with you initially. Don't worry, though – reinforcements are on the way. Your first job is to push north, clear out the Orks you find there, and then make your way towards the Communication Array. Keep an eye out, because Thaddeus will show up to help you out. He'll reinforce you by taking down some Orks on a ridge, and then you get to play around with his awesome assault jump ability.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head North and Secure the First Beacon: As soon as you start, push north. Deal with the initial Orks, and then continue towards the Communication Array. Thaddeus will arrive and help clear a ridge. Use his assault jump to take the first beacon.
  2. 2
Assault the Communication Array: Once the first beacon is secure, push on to the Communication Array itself. It's heavily defended by a lot of enemies, but they're manageable. Have Tarkus take the lead; his defensive abilities will keep him alive while his grenades thin out the enemy ranks. Thaddeus can then use his assault jump to dive into the enemy groups and help finish them off.
  3. 3
Advance Across the Bridge: After clearing the Comm Array, head towards the bridge. You'll find Eldar fighting the Orks there. Move forward, using the barricades for cover as you engage the Eldar. Avitus is great here; let him unload on them. Just be careful of Eldar grenades, especially if they cluster up. Thaddeus's assault jump can also be used to disrupt their formations. Keep pushing across the bridge, clearing out any remaining resistance.
  4. 4
Seize the Eastern Beacon: Before you do anything else, make sure to grab the last beacon located to the east.
  5. 5
Confront the Eldar Warlock: With the final beacon secured, head towards the blip on your radar. This is where you'll face the Eldar Warlock. His melee attacks aren't too threatening, but his ranged attacks pack a punch. The best strategy is to get right into his face. Use Thaddeus's assault jump to initiate the engagement, and have your Force Commander rush in to support him in melee. Avitus should unleash his rapid-fire ability, while Tarkus provides covering fire from a distance. This combined assault should bring the Warlock down pretty quickly.
Tips
  • Don't be afraid to use Thaddeus's assault jump offensively; it's incredibly useful for closing the gap and disrupting enemy lines.
  • Tarkus is your defensive anchor. Keep him near the front to absorb damage and use his grenades to soften up groups of enemies.
  • Avitus excels at dealing high amounts of sustained damage, especially when enemies are grouped up or pinned down.
  • When fighting the Warlock, focus on overwhelming him in melee to negate his strong ranged attacks.
