They're the absolute backbone of your entire war effort because they're how you generate mana, and mana is how you create literally everything else. Sure, you get a trickle of mana over time, but if you don't have a solid group of Basal Golems pumping it out, the enemy will just overwhelm you.

I really recommend churning out Basal Golems until you have at least ten before you even think about other units. This usually sets you up so you've got plenty of resources and can build stuff at a good pace. It's tempting to turn them into cooler units early on, but trust me, that'll hurt your mana flow and put you in a bad spot.

My personal sweet spot is usually ending up with 15-20 Basal Golems just chilling near your Bloodforge. That way, you're pretty much guaranteed to never run out of mana.

• It gets a little boost of +1 attack and +1 defense when it's standing on a friendly Bloodforge.
