Baldur's Gate Part 17 walkthrough covering the Bridge, Basalt Tower, and Dragonspear Basement, including defeating Belhifet and the Unknowable Horror.
Walkthrough
- 1At the Bridge (BD4500), climb the stairs and defeat abishai, imps, and lemures.
- 2Continue across the bridge to find Caelar and her men finishing off lemures. Caelar will dismiss you, stating her oath must be fulfilled before entering the tower.
- 3Follow Caelar. Before you can enter, Thrix, an abishai, appears and summons hell dwellers to prevent anyone but Caelar from entering. Defeat them and speak to Thrix again.
- 4Agree to take out Thrix's master to have him vanish. He summons more hell dwellers.
- 5You can wager a party member's life for an item. The answer to Thrix's riddle is "murder", and the prize to take is the sword (long sword +3 tongue of acid). Thrix then opens the door and vanishes.
- 6Enter the tower.
- 7In Basalt Tower (BD4600), move forward to a lift. Activate the switch on the other side to ascend.
- 8Spectacles note: A spectral figure, the demon Xhost, may appear. If he does, ensure only one party member is visible. If you stay out of his reach, he may offer a truce and gift you a sword (long sword +5 gift of the demon), which requires a remove curse to unequip and becomes a +1 weapon after five strikes.
- 9Lift (BD4601): As the lift rises, enemies will appear on the platform. Defeat them quickly. This occurs three times before reaching the upper level. After the third attack, drink a potion of clarity to avoid losing party members.
- 10Upper Level (BD4700): Upon reaching the upper level, you will find Caelar and her allies battling hell minions with Hephernaan and Belhifet. After the battle, Caelar will be stunned, and only Hephernaan and Belhifet will remain.
- 11It is best to have Caelar join your fight against Hephernaan and Belhifet. Caelar will target Hephernaan first. Belhifet can only be hit with +3 weapons or better, has high magic resistance, and can summon reinforcements or teleport while burning those nearby.
- 12Focus your attacks on Belhifet. Once Belhifet (45,000xp) is defeated, remaining hell spawn teleport away. Caelar will release her uncle from a cage. After their dialogue, you will be teleported back to the portal to Dragonspear Castle. Caelar stays to seal the portal.
- 13In Dragonspear Basement (BD4300), talk to Darnas to get the key to the vault door. Open the door and confront Torsin De Lancie. Introduce him to Aun Argent when he asks about Caelar. De Lancie will tell you to talk to Sargeant Dazzo when ready to rest. Dazzo is on the steps to Dragonspear Castle. Export any non-game NPCs from your party and save before resting, as events will move quickly.
- 14You will wake up alone in the castle's long hall. You will witness the Hooded Man transform Skie into an Unknowable Horror, then seal the room. The Unknowable Horror attacks you and *must* be killed. Any player-created NPCs still in your party will die at this point.
- 15Once the Unknowable Horror dies easily, it reverts to Skie's body, and you pass out.
- 16Bence Duncan enters as you wake. Regardless of your dialogue, you will be accused of Skie's murder, and your party members will leave. Your subsequent answers to questions of guilt will impact future events.
- 17Chapter 13: Endgame begins with a dialog and cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) before returning to gameplay.
- 18Flaming Fist City Exterior (BD0030): A cutscene shows you being marched to the Flaming Fist Compound for a public trial by Belt. Bence Duncan recounts events at Boareskyr Bridge and the mark of Bhaal. Belt allows you to defend yourself, but the Counsel's decision must be awaited. Entar Silvershield arrives, stating Skie was killed by a dagger and cannot be raised. After Entar leaves, you can ask Belt about the dagger and Skie's soul, which is within the Soultaker dagger. You are then placed in a cell within the Flaming Fist Compound, and your items are taken. (End cutscene)
- 19Flaming Fist Headquarters (BD0104): While waiting, Corwin visits and asks you to admit guilt to spare the city further heartbreak. After Corwin leaves, Viconia (or your romantic interest) visits for a goodbye. Your next visitor is the Hooded Man, revealing the truth. After a brief talk, you pass out and have a dream. Your previous answers impact the murder scene: if you claimed innocence, the Hooded Man murdered Skie; if you admitted guilt...
