Baldur's Gate Part 5 covers the Ducal Palace and Coast Way Crossing. Talk to Captain Corwin to join the expedition and leave Baldur's Gate.
Walkthrough
- 1Return to the Ducal Palace First Floor (BD0102) and speak with Captain Corwin. Agree to join the expedition. She will inform you that Imoen is recovering and that the expedition is ready to depart, but once it leaves, there will be no return to Baldur's Gate.
- 2Proceed to the Ducal Palace Third Floor (BD0103). A hooded man will speak with you, showing a strong interest in you.
- 3Speak with Imoen. She does not recognize the man and states she cannot accompany you. After this conversation, you will automatically rest.
- 4Skie will awaken you, informing you she has joined the expedition and asking you not to tell her father. You will automatically rest again after this conversation.
- 5Go to the Ducal Palace First Floor (BD0102) and speak with Entar Silvershield in the main hall to begin the final preparations. You may also speak with Entar about his daughter joining the expedition.
- 6Warning: Once you speak with Entar, all areas of Baldur's Gate will become inaccessible.
- 7Exit the Palace to the Ducal Palace Exterior (BD0101).
- 8Speak with Belegarm, the Quartermaster. You can purchase various items from him, including one of each container in his special items category.
- 9Viconia can be found here. Speak with her if you wish for her to join your party (this will result in a -2 reputation).
- 10When you are ready, speak with Corwin. A cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will play as the army begins its march. Another cutscene will play as you pass by the Sorcerous Sundries (BD0112), where a nobleman will publicly confront you about your Bhaalspawn heritage, initiating a quest that grants 7500 XP.
- 11After these events, Chapter Eight: Coast Way Crossing begins with narration and a cutscene.
- 12In Coast Way Crossing (BD1000), you will find a camp with several NPCs. Notable individuals include Mizhena (a healer), Thaird (sleeping quarters), Captain Corwin (who can join you), Glint (a cleric who can join you), and Belegarm. To the south is an area called Coast Way Forest, which you should explore before engaging the Crusade forces at the bridge to the north.
- 13East of the camp, speak with Prin, who is singing to a stone Menhir. She can tell you about Menhirs and singing to them.
- 14Activate all six stone Menhirs in the area by singing to them. Activating the sixth Menhir will release Crommus, a ghostly bard, who will tell his tale and call for his love, Carline.
- 15Calm Carline, who is initially confused and ready to attack Crommus. She will recognize him, and you can send them on their way in peace, earning 6000 XP. Crommus will then reveal the location of his buried body in the east area of the map and give you its contents.
- 16Return to Prin and inform her about your findings regarding the Menhirs.
- 17In the center of the area is a burned-out inn. On the west side, you can speak with Edwin, a red mage, who is muttering to himself as he walks south. He can join you, but if he does, Minsc and Dynaheir will leave the party; you cannot have both. You can also let him go, and find him later at the camp.
- 18A hidden chest is located in the center of the inn's ruins, containing a mirror*.
- 19On the east side of the inn, a chest requires a cloak* to be forced open.
- 20On the north side of the inn, you can find Herod, a storekeeper. He will inform you that an elf named Teleria may be responsible for five recent disappearances. Speak with him a second time to access his store.
- 21East of Herod, speak with Teleria. When asked about the missing persons, she will instruct you to meet her in a forest clearing to the west.
- 22West of Herod is Takos, the innkeeper. He wishes for three heirlooms to be returned: a mirror, a cloak, and a shield. You already have two; the third is in the Coast Way Forest to the east. Speak with Takos when you have all three to return them, earning 3,000 XP and a dart [+2 biter]. He will then depart to find his wife.
- 23In the northwest corner of the area, you will find five petrified refugees.
- 24If you spoke with Teleria earlier, you will find her here with a lesser stone golem. She is responsible for petrifying the refugees and intends to add you to her collection, yielding 800 XP, a Knave's Robe, a Stone Ally, and scrolls [6 stone to flesh].
- 25Neroha, Qelbelther, Untbril, Manny, and Soulla will be thankful for their release and offer random treasures. They can be found later at the burned-out inn.
- 26Speak with Herod after rescuing the five missing persons. You can accept the reward of 200 GP per person or decline it for a +1 reputation increase.
- 27East of the adventurers, you will find a small arena where Baeloth Barrityl has set up another Black Pit. Observe for a while, and Baeloth will speak with you. If you claim to have traveled together, he will start another match, this time with a goblin named M'Khiin.
- 28M'Khiin resists Baeloth. Demand his release, and she will defend herself by summoning ghostly defenders to attack him. Baeloth will release her once he is injured.
- 29If you are critical of Baeloth's entertainment, M'Khiin will share her story. Both she and Baeloth can join you. You can leave them here or send them to the Camp. Sending M'Khiin to the Camp earns you 3,000 XP.
- 30Travel east to the edge of the area to find Darin Highhammer, a dwarf, being attacked by two zombies. He explains he is a guard for a dwarven dig that encountered problems after opening a chamber filled with undead. The entrance to the dig is nearby; enter it to access The Dig.
- 31Clear the Coast North of the inn and further up the road towards the river, bridge, and a Crusader guard post. Warning: Wait until all other tasks in this chapter are completed before approaching the guardpost, as they will initiate a very difficult battle upon seeing you. A cutscene will play as soon as they spot you.
Tips
- Be prepared for the permanent departure from Baldur's Gate after speaking with Captain Corwin.
- Consider the implications of recruiting Edwin, as it will cause Minsc and Dynaheir to leave your party.
- The mirror* and cloak* mentioned in relation to the inn's chests are found in the Coast Way Forest and the burned-out inn's hidden chest, respectively.
- Returning the heirlooms to Takos is a good source of experience and a useful item.
- The Crusade Guardpost battle is extremely challenging and should be approached with a well-prepared party.
