Campaign is the primary game mode for singleplayer in Barotrauma, and is also available for multiplayer. It involves navigating the depths of Europa, completing missions for rewards, and uncovering the moon's mysteries.

Starting Out:

• The initial cash balance is 8,500 Europan Marks (mk) on Normal difficulty, influenced by Campaign Settings.
• The chosen starting submarine's price is subtracted from this balance.
• In Singleplayer, players can initially choose between the Dugong (5,000 mk) or Barsuk (3,999 mk). High starting balance allows for the Orca (9,000 mk) and Camel (9,000 mk).
• Multiplayer sub selection is not limited by starting cash, though the price still affects the balance.

Campaign Progression:

• Travel between locations, completing missions to earn money for supplies.
• Discover new biomes and encounter various outposts (Habitation, Military, Research, Mining, Colonies).
• Manage your submarine, which is essential for survival and travel.
• Interact with factions like the Europa Coalition, Jovian Separatists, The Church of Husk, and Children of The Honkmother, influencing your reputation.
• Utilize outpost services such as the Store, Crew Management, Shipyard (for upgrades, repairs, and new submarines), Medical Clinic, and Mission boards.
• Uncover the secrets of Europa as you progress deeper into the ocean.

Key Elements:

• Map: Navigate through various locations, including natural formations, outposts, and passageways.
• Factions: Your actions affect your standing with different groups.
• Reputation: A system that tracks your standing with factions.
• Outposts: Hubs for missions, trading, repairs, and crew management.
• Events: Dynamic occurrences that can impact your journey.
• NPCs: Characters found in outposts who offer services and missions.
