Learn how to leverage Allied naval superiority in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. This guide covers base placement, naval unit composition, defensive structures, and Tanya tactics for water-heavy maps.

Alright, so you've landed on a map with water in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2? That's fantastic news! Allied naval units are seriously powerful, and we're going to make the most of it. First things first, make sure you deploy your base right next to the water. This gives you immediate access to the sea, which is going to be your playground.

Your first move should be to destroy every single bridge you can find. This forces the enemy to take longer, more predictable routes to your base. If, by some slim chance, there are no bridges, or your opponent is too slow to find one, you'll need to set up some solid defenses along the shoreline.

As soon as your Shipyard is up, start churning out Destroyers and Aegis Cruisers. These are your frontline naval forces. Destroyers will handle any enemy ships, while the Aegis Cruisers are crucial for taking down those nasty dreadnought missiles. Don't forget to build a ton of Prism Towers too – they're excellent for shore bombardment and base defense.

Now, a quick tip for playing against the Soviets: SCATTER YOUR STRUCTURES! Seriously, if they launch a nuke, you don't want two buildings in the same spot. Spread everything out as much as possible to survive those super weapon attacks. It might be tricky with defensive structures, but do your best.

Next, build Patriot Missile Systems. These are your backup defense against any units that manage to slip past your cruisers and threaten your base with missiles. While offense is usually the best defense against super weapons, we want to keep costs down. So, consider building Tanya and maybe a Spy.

If you're using Tanya, sneak her into the enemy base. If you brought a Spy along, use them to clear out any attack dogs in the immediate area before Tanya moves in. Be aware that human players spot Spies much more easily than the AI. The AI has to actively 'sniff' for them, whereas a human player will likely notice when they try to select a unit and it doesn't respond. So, SNEAK – don't just march in blindly!

Alternatively, you could try a hit-and-run with Tanya, hoping you can get in and out before they even realize what's happening. Sometimes, if the enemy is slow to react, this can actually work!

Back to defense: While I usually love Pillboxes, they're not as effective against infantry as Prism Towers. It might sound strange, but it's true. Also, garrison infantry in structures all over the map. This is a great defense against sneak attacks on routes you might not have secured. Those garrisoned infantry can absolutely wreck enemy units, even armored ones. Just make sure to keep those garrisoned structures repaired, and you'll be golden.
