Section 5: It's Not Safe Here

Stock up on ammo and suppressors, and take your best weapons. If you have the skill Nocked Up, the crossbow is your best option for a Special Weapon. M40 sniper rifles are available at the site.

Ride to the marker in Marion Forks. You will find yourself atop a stairwell adjacent to the broken bridge.

Go down the stairs and interact with the clue near the shallow stream. An apparition of a young girl getting water will play, and a dotted trail will be generated leading into Hungry Jim's Cafe.

Rippers will arrive on bikes; the initial wave will have a half dozen hostiles, including a sniper on the balcony of the Old Wagon Hotel northwest of the cafe.

Attempt to remain stealthy, taking down the Ripper near the cafe and another near the service station across the street.

Cross the street to deal with remaining hostiles. You can climb the ladder on the east side of the service station to find an M40 sniper rifle to deal with the sniper and his comrades. Newts may harass you on the roof and must be eliminated.

Alternatively, remain stealthy and use the crossbow or a suppressed weapon to eliminate hostiles between you and the hotel. Then, climb onto the roof of Masterson's Bait and Tackle to snipe, or enter the hotel through the rear door, go up the stairs, and kill the sniper. Use the high ground to clear any remaining hostiles around the hotel.

Continue to clear the town of Rippers. Three more will arrive on bikes on the lower ground west of the church. Remain concealed in the brush near the church.

Shoot the red explosive barrel to eliminate the rider who will stop near it. Eliminate the other two.

Another six Rippers need to be eliminated near the blue house to the west.

The task will change to finding a way into the locked blue house. Raid corpses and police cars for ammo.

Find the ladder on the ground behind the blue house to access the upper story.

During a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically), you'll find Lisa Jackson, who has been surviving amid the chaos and is terrified. You tell her the place is not safe and you will take her to a place where she'll have food and safety.

Exit via the ladder and go south, then turn east on the outskirts of town to reach your bike. Lisa will follow, remaining stealthy if you do.

Avoid or kill infected as you move stealthily up the slope and behind the yellow house. Use brush clumps as cover (cover), downing Freaks when required.

When you get close to your bike near the Hungry Jim Statue, a Rager (an infected bear) will appear. Tag it with your binoculars.

Hit the Rager with a pipe bomb and/or a Molotov or two, then duck inside Hungry Jim's Café to reduce its health bar. The bear will likely move behind the café or the bait shop and may battle Freaks there. Lisa will climb into a trash hopper and remain out of harm's way.

Sprint across the street and climb atop the service station to attack the bear, or remain in the café and hit the bear with throwables and firearms, retreating into the building's safety. If it gets near an explosive item like the propane tank or a gas can, shoot it.

Once the bear is downed, get to your bike. Lisa will emerge from her hopper and get aboard.

Speed out of town, avoiding Freaks. You'll come to a dark tunnel. Park a short distance inside, just past the tractor trailer, but be aware you can't get too far from Lisa.

There will be six Marauders to clear before you can ride through the tunnel. Most can be spotted by their flashlights. Take them out and continue toward camp.

On the ride, Lisa will mention that the Deschute's County Militia confiscated all the weapons.

At Hot Springs Camp, Ada Tucker will greet Lisa. You ask Ada to go easy on the traumatized girl.
