Find the Chaos Sanctuary in diablo ii resurrected by reaching the River of Flame Waypoint. Learn about its denizens and best farming characters.
To reach the Chaos Sanctuary, travel to the River of Flame Waypoint and head northeast. After traversing some platforms, you’ll reach the door to the Chaos Sanctuary. While the River of Flame is an aLv85 area, it's generally not viewed as a prime farming spot due to its lack of enemy density and nuisance layout. It’s generally best to just teleport from the Waypoint to the Chaos Sanctuary, perhaps stopping to pick on any Uniques/Champions you spot along the way.
- 1Travel to the River of Flame Waypoint.
- 2Head northeast towards the Chaos Sanctuary entrance.
- 3Enter the Chaos Sanctuary.
- 4Open all five seals located at the extremities of the area.
- 5Defeat the guardians of the seals: The Grand Vizier of Chaos (a Storm Caster), Lord de Seis (an Oblivion Knight), and the Infector of Souls (a Venom Lord).
- 6Defeat Diablo himself.
Denizens of the Chaos Sanctuary:
The minions attending Diablo’s court are invariable: Doom Knights, Oblivion Knights, Storm Casters, and Venom Lords. Between these four, they have immunities to fire, lightning, and cold. The Oblivion Knight is arguably the most dangerous foe due to the curses they inflict, including Decrepify (lowers movement and attack speed), Amplify Damage (reduces physical resistance by 100%), and Lower Resist (significantly lowers resistances). Venom Lords can breathe fire, and Storm Casters can drain Mana with homing projectiles.
There are between 6-7 champion/unique mobs in the Chaos Sanctuary, not including Diablo’s three Super Uniques and Diablo himself. The three Super Uniques are released when you activate the five seals.
- Casters generally rule the roost in the Chaos Sanctuary due to the Oblivion Knight’s Decrepify curse, which slows all attackers.
- The Sorceress can use Teleport to bypass the River of Flame and nuisance enemies. A Meteorb Sorceress can handle most threats, while a Blizzard Sorceress only needs to worry about Oblivion Knights.
- With top-tier gear like Enigma, Summon Necromancers and Poison Necromancers have an easier time.
- A Hammerdin with good resistances, max block, and perhaps a Call to Arms will excel.
- Lightning builds like the Javazon and Lightning Sorceress may want an Infinity, which is quite expensive.
- Clearing the Chaos Sanctuary quickly (under four minutes) and safely often requires expensive gear.
