Continue down a short corridor to find a Hatch and a rocket launcher. Dropping down this hatch is irreversible and creates an immediate checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) (a save point).
Mission 5: Fight: Base of Tower
This fight begins with a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an in-game cinematic) introducing the MANCUBUS. Use the Rocket Launcher or Gauss Cannon to damage it, then take pot-shots at other demons. Once you damage many demons, look for a Yellow Lift that leads to a Powerup. Use the Plasma Rifle's Heat Blast to kill many demons. After the fight, pick up all Gas and Ammo.
Midway up, after the central red beam of Argent Energy surrounded by rotating metal shields, you'll find a tricky secret. Continue up, across a long jump, to where the red beam is protected by periodically opening and closing shutters. Look at the minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen) (a small map on the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap) - Heads-Up Display). You should see two symmetric arms going up; one has a walkway underneath. This is SECRET 5.5, COLLECTIBLE 5.2 with "Summoner Model, Purpleguy". If you have the In-Flight Mobility Rune, it's easy, but without it, use one of two approaches: jump on the gray tubes running to the platform, then jump onto the platform, or drop from a platform above and jump mid-air onto the duct. Resume climbing: a rotating train inserts ducts into the central beam. Between when it opens and extends the duct, you can jump up.
Mission 5: Fight: Midway
A fight involving Possessed Soldiers, Imps, Revenants, and a Hell Knight occurs here. An Invulnerability Powerup is available, found by looking for two protected doors a few stories up from ground level. One door is your waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination) (a marker on the radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked) - a circular display showing nearby enemies and objectives), and the other has the green Invulnerability Powerup. Use the blue lifts to reach this high area. After the lockdown ends, continue up to the waypoint.
Mission 5: Activating the Drones
Use ARGENT CELL 5.2 and the Health Station if needed. Interact with the screen at the waypoint to "Activate Drones." This causes two pairs of cars (drones) to transport items vertically to a platform above. Exit the control room and find one pair of drones in front of you. Go around to the opposite side of the column for the second pair of drones (illuminated in blue, unlike the green ones near the control room). Jump onto a blue drone and go up to a platform at the top. Find and actuate a lever. Ride the drone down; when it disengages from a socket, you'll find SECRET 5.7, CLASSIC MAP 5.1 "Doom - Halls of the Damned" in the back of the socket. Take any drone up to the top and jump to the highest platform. You'll see a rotating plug train; jump onto it when it stops. Follow the plug to a platform on either side. From this inner circular walkway, you'll see 4 arms ascending. One has platforms by its end; take that one and jump up a few platforms. Keep going up, avoiding argent beams and taking out 4 Imps. Eventually, hitch a ride up on an argent transfer thing. From the top, the waypoint is a greenlit door.
Mission 5: Fight: Upper Office
2 Possessed Soldiers and The Possessed await inside. From the office, take the stairs to find a Possessed Security, a Hell Knight, and more minor demons. The passage ends.
Mission 5: Ascending to the Top
From the dead end, jump across tracks through a "window." To your left is Rune Challenge #2, "Equipment Power." This challenge involves luring Unwilling into barrels that you shoot. Watch for Unwilling spawning behind you. After the Rune Challenge, look back across where you jumped the tracks to a higher platform you can jump to. You'll reach elevator shafts. The first (left) has a Munitions Crate. The second has a Mega-Health down in the shaft; drop to get it and retrace your steps. From the Munitions Crate, jump onto a ledge system to another hallway. Between the twin elevator shafts, in the hall, is a wide brown pillar. In the back between the elevators is a landing: ELITE GUARD 5.3 is here. Continue up the stairs and through the door to another elevator shaft. Peer down this shaft to see an opening about 6 lights down. Jump and hold forward to land in it – this is SECRET 5.6, where you acquire the GAUSS CANNON. Interact with the screen to "Open the Turbine," which opens an exit from the shaft. Take it and retrace your steps to the top of the shaft. You'll find a Hologram (sometimes known as a Decoy) and a Plasma Gun here.
