Doom (2016) Part 18 walkthrough covering Rune Challenges, Gore Nests, and combat encounters like Pinkies and Hell Knights.
Walkthrough
- 1In the Main Cargo Bay Adjacent area, you may encounter a Hell Knight and a few Imps. This area can be skipped.
- 2Through the tunnel in the Main Cargo Bay Adjacent area, you will face a Hell Knight, a Hell Razer, and at least one Imp. This area can also be skipped.
- 3From the Old Platform Area, access Rune Challenge 7.1 "In-Flight Mobility" by taking a blue lift or jumping from cargo crates near the Security Station Doors. This Rune is critical for some bosses.
- 4After obtaining the "In-Flight Mobility" Rune, drop down to SECRET 7.2 to find a Mega Health and ELITE GUARD 7.2. Equip the Rune, go to the edge of the rock, turn around, and walk backward off the rock, jumping forward as you see the cave to land on the Mega Health. The Elite Guard is in the shaft behind it. To return, jump to a rock with a blue booster.
- 5To reach the Security Station, find a pile of three crates near the Main Cargo Bay to climb on. The door should have a marker and Gas nearby.
- 6Inside the Security Station, you will face two Pinkies and at least one Possessed Soldier, along with other Possessed demons. After defeating them, another wave of Pinkies will appear.
- 7After the fight in the Security Station, check the Auto-Map (a digital map displayed on your HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)) for CODEX ENTRY "UAC Personnel / Dr Samuel Hayden 2". A Health Station is also present.
- 8After triggering and watching a holographic replay, exit the Security Station through the second door.
- 9Exiting the Security Station, you will encounter two Pinkies, two Revenants, and two Imps. You can use a Quad Power-Up here, but it may be better saved for later. After this fight, you will reach a CHECKPOINT (a point where the game automatically saves your progress).
- 10ELITE GUARD 7.3 is located on the top level. Interact with the Munitions Crate in the far corner of the lower level; it refills between most battles.
- 11Taking the stairs across the chasm after the previous fight triggers another encounter. The first wave includes The Possessed, a Revenant, an Imp, and a Cacodaemon. The second wave consists of another Revenant, Cacodaemon, and a few Imps. The third wave features two Pinkies and a Mancubus emerging from the hangar ahead. You can use a Quad-Damage power-up on these.
- 12Enter the Indoor Gore Nest building, collecting health, Gas, and CODEX ENTRY "Monsters / Mancubus 3".
- 13Before destroying the Gore Nest, consider the Megahealth Powerup on the crate above. Find Gas where the Possessed Security hides on the left. The two Pinkies spawn near the entrance. Retreating toward the entrance can minimize complications.
- 14The fight before the Gore Nest involves a Hell Razer and a Possessed Security. The Gore Nest itself spawns two Pinkies, a Hell Knight, and a few Hell Razers. The final enemy is a Hell Baron, who starts near the Health Station and chainsaw. The chainsaw or Gauss Cannon/Siege Mode are effective against it.
- 15After the fight, near the bridge over the electrically charged floor, reset the Crane to Base. This moves a suspended block into jumping range. Jump onto the block, then onto a catwalk to access SECRET 7.5 and FIELD DRONE 7.1.
- 16Exit through the door near the Health Station.
- 17Exit the building and turn left, fighting an Imp and a Revenant. Jump right and follow the walkway to find RUNE CHALLENGE 7.2 "Armored Offensive" (also SECRET 7.3). This Rune is useful for hard fights as it provides more armor.
- 18Turn around and run back toward the waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination). To the left, find a Munitions Crate on a plateau. You may encounter The Possessed and a Cacodaemon. After defeating them, you should reach a CHECKPOINT.
- 19Continue along the ledge, jumping to green-lit ledges. At the top, you will find an airship with loot.
