Prepare for the final challenges of Dragon Quest II by grinding to recommended levels and acquiring powerful equipment like the Falcon Blade and Mink Mantle.

This is the final grind session in Dragon Quest II, and it will be your longest. It is recommended to grind in the hills west of Rendarak Shrine due to valuable item drops. Aim for the Hero to reach level 43, the Prince to level 42, and the Princess to level 40. This preparation is crucial as Hargon's Castle is manageable, but the final boss is not. You will also need gold for new equipment.

Quick Save after every few battles, as you may be wiped out occasionally. Feel free to use Kaboom extensively.

As soon as you can afford it, Zoom to Burrowell or Slewse and purchase a third Power Shield for 21500G to equip on the Princess, allowing all party members to heal themselves for free in battle.

If you accumulate 65000G, Zoom to Burrowell and buy the Mink Mantle. This can be equipped on either the Prince or the Princess. If the Princess receives the Mink Mantle, equip the Flowing Dress on the Prince.

Upon earning another 25000G, Zoom to Slewse and buy the Falcon Blade for the Hero. This weapon grants two attacks per turn; if both hit, it deals comparable damage to the Thunderbolt Blade. Crucially, if the first hit defeats a monster, the second hit will target another enemy, potentially allowing you to defeat two monsters in one turn. Do not discard the Thunderbolt Blade, as it remains useful against resilient foes.

If you earn an additional 25000G, you can purchase a second Falcon Blade for the Prince. However, his Aurora Blade is already effective, so this is not a high priority unless you have excess funds.

At the conclusion of your grind, your party's recommended equipment and levels should be:

• Hero: Recommended Level 43. Equipment: Thunderbolt Blade OR Falcon Blade; Erdrick's Armour; Erdrick's Shield; Erdrick's Helm; Banishing Bell; Extra: Power Shield.
• Prince: Recommended Level 42. Equipment: Aurora Blade OR Falcon Blade; Flowing Dress OR Mink Mantle; Power Shield; Mad Cap; Banishing Bell.
• Princess: Recommended Level 40. Equipment: Lightning Staff; Flowing Dress OR Mink Mantle; Power Shield; Mad Cap; Banishing Bell.

Note: There is only one Flowing Dress and one Mad Cap. It is recommended to equip the Flowing Dress on the Prince and the Mink Mantle on the Princess. The Mad Cap should be equipped on the Princess.

Once prepared, return to Hargon's Castle, ensuring you possess the Eye of Rubiss and the False Idol.
