Learn how to defeat Setesh the Punisher in Dragon Quest VII. This guide covers his attacks, weaknesses, and the best strategies to use in battle.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Setesh knows Sap (single target).
• He has a powerful physical attack that can hit one character for 80+ damage, especially after saving strength.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Initial Assault
   Apply Buff to all your characters. Use Sap twice to lower Setesh's defenses. Keep Buff active throughout the fight, especially if your Vocation has lower defense.
2. Phase 2: Sustained Combat & Healing
   If you have a character with Priest leveled enough to learn Midheal, use it to heal both that character and the Hero to out-damage Setesh's attacks.
3. Phase 3: Setesh's Power Attack
   If you see Setesh saving his strength, be prepared to defend on the following turn. This indicates he's about to unleash his most devastating attack, which can deal over 80 damage to a single target.

Strategy:

• Start the battle by casting Buff on your entire party.
• Follow up with Sap twice to reduce Setesh's defense.
• Maintain Buff on your party throughout the fight, as Setesh also uses Sap and can lower your defenses.
• If you have access to Midheal (learned by Priests), use it frequently on the Hero and other characters to recover from Setesh's damage.
• Be vigilant for Setesh saving his strength. If you see this, have your party defend on the next turn to mitigate the massive damage from his special attack.

After the Battle:

• When prompted, remove the ruby.
• Scenes will play out, and you'll find yourself on the Bank of the Nihil.
• Approach Hadid and check on him to trigger another scene.
• Your party will return to the village.
• Speak with the Queen on the balcony.
• Go downstairs and speak with Hadid. He'll grant you access to the storehouse items.
• Inside the storehouse (the locked room where women were hiding), pick up the Yellow Fragment and open the chest for a Leather Whip.
• Exit the village.
• Return to the Temple Palace and speak with the archaeologist.
• Receive a Care Package to deliver to the guard at the Dig Site in the present.
• Return to the present time.
