Learn how to augment your weapons in Dreams of Aether by encoding Dream Aether into them. Discover the different grades of encoding, their costs, and how they affect your weapon's stats.
Weapon augmentation in Dreams of Aether involves using Dream Aether to enhance a weapon's attributes. This process, known as Encoding, is performed by the Oracle Bracelet.
Encoding Basics
Encoding transforms Dream Aether into energy that can boost a weapon's attributes. Initially, seven basic attributes can be enhanced: Strength, Agility, Constitution, Vitality, Intelligence, and Perception. The cost to encode varies based on the volume of the target. For example, enhancing a 3 cubic meter unit with the Sharpness Encoding costs 1 Aether point. Larger volumes incur higher costs, with prices doubling above 3 cubic meters and tripling above 6 cubic meters. Every body, whether organic or inorganic, has a certain Aether capacity. Exceeding this limit, known as Aether's 100-point limit for humans, can lead to saturation.
Encoding Grades
There are different grades of Encoding, affecting how much Aether a weapon can hold and the complexity of enhancements:
- Grade 1: Aether is like a gas. Max Attribute: 100. The Oracle offers 7 Grade 1 primary Encodings for free.
- Grade 2: Aether condenses to a liquid-like state. Max Attribute: 1,000. Costs 1,000 credits at the Oracle Store for Strength Encoding.
- Grade 3: Aether condenses to a solid-like state. Max Attribute: 10,000 (?).
Each additional grade allows the weapon to hold significantly more Aether and can include passive properties comparable to an Aether Skill. However, higher grades come at a cost, with most requiring purchase from the Oracle Store.
Aether Colors
For simplicity, the Oracle assigns colors to different Aether energies used in encoding:
- Red: Strength
- Orange: Agility
- Yellow: Constitution
- Green: Vitality
- Cyan: Intelligence
- Indigo: Perception
The Oracle device uses more Aether to encode each different energy based upon color; one point of Aether for one point of Strength, two for Agility, and so on.
