Learn how to upgrade your skills in Dreams of Aether. Discover the basics of Encoding, different grades, and how Aether is used to enhance your attributes.

In Dreams of Aether, upgrading your skills is achieved through a process called Encoding. This ability, facilitated by the Oracle Bracelet, transforms Dream Aether into energy that enhances your attributes. There are seven basic attributes that can be enhanced: Strength, Agility, Constitution, Vitality, Intelligence, and Perception.

The cost to Encode varies based on the volume of the target. For instance, enchanting a 3 cubic meter unit of volume with the Sharpness Encoding costs 1 Aether point. Larger volumes incur higher costs, with prices doubling above 3 cubic meters and tripling above 6 cubic meters. It's important to note that exceeding certain size limits can make stat improvements significantly more expensive.

Every body, whether organic or inorganic, has a finite Aether capacity. As your Aether stats increase, your body fills up until it reaches its limit, often referred to as the Aether's 100-point limit for humans.

There are different grades of Encoding, affecting how condensed the Aether can become. Grade 1 Aether is like a gas, while Grade 2 and 3 are comparable to liquid or solid. Each higher grade allows your body to hold significantly more Aether and can incorporate passive properties similar to Aether Skills. While the Oracle provides the 7 grade 1 primary Encodings for free, higher grades and additional functions must be purchased from the Oracle Store, with Grade 2 Strength Encoding costing 1,000 credits.

The Oracle assigns colors to different Aether energies for simplicity: Red for Strength, Orange for Agility, Yellow for Constitution, Green for Vitality, Cyan for Intelligence, and Indigo for Perception. The Oracle device uses varying amounts of Aether to encode each energy type.
