Learn how to upgrade Prosperity in Far Cry New Dawn by liberating outposts, recruiting specialists, and managing ethanol and resources to survive the Highwaymen.
Prosperity is your Homebase in Far Cry New Dawn. This settlement needs to be upgraded to resist the Highwaymen. Upgrades require ethanol, which is primarily earned by liberating outposts. You can also get ethanol from hijacking tanker trucks and raiding enemy supply drops. Supply planes making drops can also provide significant amounts of ethanol if you explore thoroughly.
To bolster Prosperity's defenses, you must recruit five Specialists. Three of them—Bean, Selene, and Grace Armstrong—are available early on. The initial Prosperity upgrade requires recruiting two Specialists, upgrading three facilities with ethanol, and rescuing Thomas Rush. Recommendations for these early goals are in Section 4: Breakout. The second Prosperity upgrade requires recruiting the remaining three Specialists and upgrading nine more facilities. Prosperity also serves as a fast travel station accessible from anywhere in Hope County.
Facility upgrades are entirely dependent on acquiring ethanol. This means taking outposts, confiscating supply drops, and hijacking fuel tankers. Prioritize spending your initial ethanol on the most lucrative facilities.
Ethanol/Resources
Ethanol is crucial for upgrading Prosperity's facilities. Liberating outposts is essential for obtaining it. A level one outpost yields 100 ethanol and 5 carbon fiber. Liberating it undetected grants an extra 50 ethanol, and doing so without triggering an alarm adds 25 more. Scavenging a level one outpost (allowing level 2 enemies to occupy it) earns an additional 50 ethanol but removes it from the fast travel network. This makes the site harder to take but increases the reward to 200 ethanol and 15 carbon fiber. Doing so undetected yields an extra 100 ethanol, and without an alarm adds 50 more.
Scavenging a level 2 outpost earns an extra 100 ethanol, but the enemies are tougher, and alarm locations can be random. Taking one yields 300 ethanol base, 150 extra for undetected, and 75 for no alarm. It can then be scavenged again for 150 ethanol. Level 2 outposts often feature Elite enemies. Scavenging a Level 3 outpost can be done repeatedly for 150 ethanol.
Hijacking an enemy ethanol tanker earns 75 ethanol. You must kill the driver and escort, then drive the truck to a liberated outpost or Prosperity without it exploding. Raiding Highwaymen supply drops (marked by yellow smoke and a plane sound) yields 30-40 ethanol and other resources. Beware of other Highwaymen trying to get the goods.
Resources include weapons, ammo, components, gears, duct tape, springs, copper, titanium, and plants for crafting Medkits. Gather resources from the environment, corpses, locations, hunting wildlife, foraging, and fishing. These can be sold for resources. Stashes (detailed in Section 23: Treasure Hunts), hijacked supply trucks, looted scavengers, and stolen enemy supply drops also provide resources.
Seven Expeditions outside Hope County are a vital source of resources, especially circuit boards for high-end weaponry, and titanium. Expeditions have three difficulty levels, with the highest being repeatable.
Carbon fiber is essential for high-end weapons and is earned alongside ethanol by liberating outposts. Timber, a Guns for Hire, can be rescued during the mission Man Eat Dog World. After 15 kills, Timber can highlight resources.
Progression Flow Path
After reaching Prosperity, you start with Rank 1 weapons. These can be recovered from victims and crafted at the Workbench if you have the resources. Rank 2 weapons require upgrading the Workbench with 150 ethanol, obtainable from outposts or supply drops. Hijacking fuel tankers provides 75 ethanol.
