Recruit Guns for Hire in Far Cry New Dawn. Learn how to find and recruit Carmina Rye, Gina Guerra, Horatio, and Hurk Drubman Jr.

There are eight Guns for Hire (specialized companions) located around Hope County in Far Cry New Dawn. You can find them through exploration or by talking to non-player characters (NPCs). These are optional missions, but recruiting them is worthwhile as they can acquire additional abilities by achieving kill milestones, which are visible in the Roster section. Companions can also revive you, and you can revive them. If a companion is incapacitated, you can bring them back for a small fee. You can use any companion on your Roster at any time.

Carmina Rye: Find Hope

Carmina Rye will rescue you and then accompany you during the story mission, Find Hope. After this, she will be available as a companion. She uses an assault rifle and can remain stealthy. After reaching certain kill thresholds, she will begin throwing dynamite. You can summon her as a companion after completing the Find Hope mission.

Gina Guerra: Mo' Mommies, Mo' Problems

Speak to Sharky in Prosperity. He will inform you that Gina Guerra has been captured and is about to be forced into the Prisoner's Run, a rigged race where the winner is granted freedom, but no one survives. Gina is Hurk's baby momma, and he becomes distraught if anything happens to her. He asks you to ensure her survival. Having a grenade launcher or rocket launcher can make this task easier.

Head to the mission marker, located east of the outpost at The Refinery, on top of a tower. Kill the guard near the tower and climb the ladder to observe the race below. Gina's vehicle will have a marker and a damage bar. Eliminate the sniper across the raceway and then begin taking out the drivers of the other vehicles. Additional Highwaymen will start sniping at you from around the arena. After eliminating all other vehicles or drivers and suppressing any snipers, speak to Gina. She is thankful for your help and can now be summoned as a companion with her LMG. Gina is not subtle and will relentlessly attack enemies once she has unlimited ammunition.

Horatio: To Love a Boar

Horatio, a fierce boar, has been captured by the Highwaymen and is being held to be cooked. Rescuing him will make him your loyal companion. Horatio can initially knock shields away from opponents. After 15 kills, he can self-heal after being downed. After 40 kills, he gains Porcine Fury, where he demolishes enemies during a rage. Horatio can allow you to remain stealthy but is eager to engage in combat. He is considered one of the most formidable companions, especially when upgraded to Elite Status in the Training Camp.

Scout the location from the western hillside. There will be several Highwaymen at Elsinore Farm, where Horatio is locked in a small shack. Hostiles will quickly investigate any disturbance, so approach discreetly. Some defenders are inside or on top of the main building; circle the outskirts to stalk and target them. It is advised to have a companion like Carmina or Jerome with you. Once the area is clear, shoot the lock off the shack to free the boar. If freed before the site is cleared, he will join the fight. Afterward, pet the boar to add him to your Roster of Guns for Hire.

Hurk Drubman, Jr.: Days of Blunder

Hurk will be at a tunnel southeast of the outpost at Trailer Town, clearing it with his rocket launcher. He will complain about the loss of his distillery, ride, woman, and the near abduction of his baby, seeking revenge on the Highwaymen and needing a driver to help him retrieve his car. He will ride shotgun with his launcher.

Follow Hurk into the tunnel and grab the loot among the debris. Hurk will fail to disable the bomb on a Highwaymen's vehicle. You must take the wheel, as the car is a moving bomb that will explode if you slow down or stop. Dodge obstacles and drive through clutter on the ramp to exit the tunnel. The vehicle has an onboard gun to help clear obstacles and kill hostiles, and Hurk will also fire his launcher.

Killing every enemy is not required, but maintaining the car's momentum is crucial. Continue from marker to marker on the dirt trail, then navigate through the dark tunnel, going over ramps and additional obstacles.

Tips
  • Choose a companion that suits your playstyle: Nana, The Judge, and Timber for stealth; Carmina, Gina, Horatio, Hurk, and Jerome for a more direct approach.
  • Horatio is a formidable companion, especially when fully upgraded and in Rage Mode.
  • When facing Gina's mission, a grenade launcher or rocket launcher can make eliminating enemies easier.
  • When driving the bomb car during Hurk's mission, focus on maintaining speed and avoiding obstacles rather than eliminating every enemy.
  • Recruited Guns for Hire available as companions.
  • Companions gain new abilities and upgrades as they achieve kill milestones.
