Learn how to obtain powerful Enemy Skills like Big Guard and White Wind, find the Mythril Miner, and grind for XP in Final Fantasy VII's Western Continent.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Learn Big Guard: Drive the Buggy to the shore southeast of the Gold Saucer and encounter Beachplugs. Manipulate one to learn the Enemy Skill "Big Guard".
  2. 2
Return to Junon: Cross the river north of the Gold Saucer to reach Costa del Sol, then head to Junon.
  3. 3
Junon Alarm Box: In Junon, find the red alarm box on the north-west wall near soldiers drilling for the Underwater Reactor. Tampering with it will summon high-level enemies like Death Machines and Slaloms, useful for grinding XP, AP, and Gil.
  4. 4
Learn White Wind: After leaving Junon, wander the grasslands outside until you encounter a Zemzelett. Manipulate it to cast "White Wind" on your party to learn this powerful healing Enemy Skill. Use an Ether if it runs out of MP.
  5. 5
Other Enemy Skills: You can also learn "Beta" from Midgar Zolom (using "Laser" attacks), "Flamethrower" from Ark Dragons in the Mythril Mines, "L4 Suicide" from Mus near the Chocobo Ranch, and "Chocobuckle" from Chocobos.
  6. 6
Mythril Miner: North of Fort Condor and east of Junon, find a cave with a sleeping miner. If the last two digits of your battle count match (e.g., 11, 33, 55, 77, 99), he gives you Mythril. If they are even (22, 44, 66, 88), he gives you a Bolt Ring. Check back after each battle to get both items.
  7. 7
Continue Journey: Once done, return to the Gold Saucer area to continue your quest.
Tips
  • The peninsula south-east of the Gold Saucer is a good spot to find Beachplugs.
  • To learn "Beta" from Midgar Zolom, use "Laser" attacks and equip Fire + Elemental Materia or the Fire Ring. Put your party in the back row and use Tranquilizers.
  • If the Zemzelett runs out of MP for "White Wind", use an Ether on it.
  • To get the Mythril Miner's rewards, save and reload or run around outside the cave, checking back after each battle until the desired condition is met.
  • The elevator in Junon can be used to leave, but returning up costs 10 Gil.
  • Enemy Skill: Big Guard
  • Enemy Skill: White Wind
  • Mythril (if last two digits of battle count are odd and matching)
  • Bolt Ring (if last two digits of battle count are even and matching)
