Guide to Rocket Town in Final Fantasy VII. Find items like the Yoshiyuki and Drill Arm, shop for Materia, and battle Palmer to acquire the Tiny Bronco.
Walkthrough
- 1Head west from Junon, then north-east to find Rocket Town.
- 2Explore the town: an inn to the east, a weapon shop to the west, and an item shop north of those.
- 3In the weapon shop, you can buy a Shotgun (3100 Gil), Gold Armlet (2000 Gil), Power Wrist (7500 Gil), Protect Vest (3500 Gil), Earring (7500 Gil), and Talisman (4000 Gil). Note that Gold Armlets can be stolen from Dragons in Mt. Nibel and superior armor will be available soon.
- 4In the item shop, you can buy Potions (50 Gil), Hi-Potions (300 Gil), Phoenix Downs (300 Gil), Ethers (1500 Gil), Hyper (100 Gil), Tranquilizers (100 Gil), Tents (500 Gil), Barrier Materia (10000 Gil), Exit Materia (10000 Gil), and Time Materia (6000 Gil). Barrier Materia is inferior to Big Guard but useful for collecting all Materia types.
- 5Talk to the old man outside the item shop twice and agree to look at the rocket with him to receive the Yoshiyuki sword for Cloud (56 Attack, two unjoined Materia sockets, deals more damage with KO'd allies).
- 6Ignore the house to the west.
- 7In the eastern houses: enter the one past the inn, search the back room for a Power Source.
- 8Enter the house to the north of the inn and loot a chest in the north-east room for the Drill Arm (37 Attack weapon for Barret, four unconnected Materia sockets, Double AP Growth).
- 9Head to the backyard of the eastern house to find the Tiny Bronco monoplane. A lady will direct you to the Captain inside the rocket.
- 10Enter the rocket and climb to the top to find the Captain (Cid). After a conversation, leave and return to the house.
- 11Return to the Captain's house; after Cid returns, he will eventually agree to help.
- 12After Shera tells her backstory, Palmer, head of Shinra's space program, will arrive.
- 13Confront Palmer in the backyard.
Boss Battle: Palmer
- HP: 6000
- MP: 240
- Weaknesses: None
- Resistances: Gravity (negates)
- XP: 1800
- AP: 98
- Steal: None
- Drop: Edincoat
- Gil: 5000
Strategy: Palmer's only attack is his Mako Gun, which deals around 400 damage. Use strong attacks and support Materia like Big Guard and White Wind. He is not a difficult opponent.
After the Battle:
- After Palmer is defeated and has an encounter with the Tiny Bronco, Cid will allow you to use the Tiny Bronco. He will also join your party and mention that Sephiroth is heading to the Temple of the Ancients.
Tips
- Do not spend money on Gold Armlets in the weapon shop, as superior armor will be available soon.
- Barrier Materia is weaker than Big Guard but is useful for collecting all Materia types.
- The Yoshiyuki sword for Cloud deals more damage when you have KO'd allies in your party.
- The Drill Arm for Barret has Double AP Growth.
