- Cloud's Apocalypse, Cid's Javelin, and Scimitar recommended for the final battle.
- Consider equipping a character with all four Enemy Skill Materia for the final battle.

- Big Guard Materia recommended for the final battle.
Walkthrough
- 1Return to the Highwind and fly to Cosmo Canyon.
- 2Enter Cosmo Canyon and speak with party members to receive news about Bugenhagen.
- 3Go to Bugenhagen's observatory.
- 4After events at the Forgotten City, talk to Bugenhagen to obtain Red XIII's ultimate weapon, the Limited Moon. This weapon charges based on Red XIII's MP bar.
- 5Fly the Highwind to Junon.
- 6East of Junon, locate the massive crater where Ultimate Weapon is found.
- 7Pilot the Highwind into Ultimate Weapon to initiate a battle. Ensure all party members have Long Range Materia or long-ranged weapons equipped if fighting in the air.
- 8During the battle, you can steal either a Circlet or a Reflect Ring from Ultimate Weapon.
- 9Ultimate Weapon will flee after a few rounds. Chase it by ramming it with the Highwind until it stops, or wait for it to choose a location on the map to attack (Junon crater, Mideel, Mt. Nibel, North Corel, Gongaga, Fort Condor, Midgar, or the North Cave).
- 10If you cannot find it after it flees, it is either flying around or at one of the listed locations.
- 11Ultimate Weapon's attacks include Quake 2, physical attacks, Ultima Beam, and a thunder orb attack, dealing around 1500-2000 damage. If flying, it will not cast Quake 2 or perform physical attacks.
- 12Using Magic Hammer can restrict Ultimate Weapon to physical attacks and its thunder orb.
- 13Ultimate Weapon will eventually fly to Cosmo Canyon for its final stand. Only this battle yields XP, AP, Gil, and Cloud's ultimate weapon.
- 14For the final battle near Cosmo Canyon, arrange Materia for maximum AP gain, prioritizing high-growth weapons and armor.
- 15To easily learn the Shadow Flare attack, ensure the character who lands the final hit has all four Enemy Skill Materia equipped. This character should also have a Reflect Ring equipped to bounce Shadow Flare back, allowing the skill to be learned even if it doesn't damage the character.
- 16Use powerful attacks like Bahamut ZERO, Limit Breaks, or Knights of the Round (boosted with MP Turbo) to defeat Ultimate Weapon quickly.
- 17Upon defeating Ultimate Weapon, you will receive a large amount of XP, AP, and Gil, as well as Cloud's ultimate weapon, the Ultima Weapon.
- 18As a shortcut, cast Knights of the Round + MP Turbo on Ultimate Weapon in the first battle near Junon to force it to flee to Cosmo Canyon immediately.
- 19In the final battle at Cosmo Canyon, equip all Enemy Skill Materia and a Reflect Ring on one character, set weapons and armor for maximum AP growth, and ensure this character lands the final blow to learn Shadow Flare safely.
