Follow our guide to ace the Fair Game mission in Grand Theft Auto V. Learn how to track elk, get heart shots, and stay downwind for that Gold Medal!

Alright, so you've finished up the Target Practice mission and Cletus is ready to go hunting. He'll text you when he's ready, so just head over to the Bayview Lodge to kick things off.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Once the intro scene wraps up, stick close to Cletus as he leads you into the woods. Your first task is to take out three elk from a distance. Don't get too close, just line 'em up and take 'em down.
  2. 2
For the final part, you'll need to take out a fourth elk, but this time you'll need to snap a picture of it and send it to Cletus. That's the mission done!
🏆 Gold Medal Requirements
Downwind: You can't let any of the elk detect you.
Heart Hunter: You need to get a heart shot on 3 of the 4 elk you take down.
Tips for Gold Medals
  • Downwind: Cletus will tell you, but staying downwind is key. Keep an eye on that wind direction arrow. It'll be green when you're good, but turn red if the elk start to catch your scent. If it turns red, you need to reposition yourself quickly, or they'll spook and run. Be patient, move slowly, and use bushes for cover. The elk won't just vanish if you take your time, so plan your shots. Also, watch out, they can hide in thickets, so don't just charge in!
  • Heart Hunter: To get that heart shot, aim for the chest, right below the neck. It's easiest when the elk lifts its head to look around, giving you a clearer shot. Be quick though, they don't hold their heads up for long! And remember, only shoot the bucks with antlers, not the does. Miss, and you might have to restart the checkpoint.
