Basic Gameplay

In Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, players control a hero on raids with the objective of completing tasks like surviving environmental hazards or defeating specific enemies within a time limit. After completing objectives, players must summon and defeat a boss. The game features an overhead perspective where players must fend off waves of approaching enemies. Heroes begin with a basic attack and a weapon skill. Collecting XP crystals from defeated enemies allows the hero to level up, offering a choice between new skills granted by gods or from the hero's own potential skillset. By default, skills and attacks are autocast, meaning the player primarily manages the hero's movement, weapon skill usage, and dashes. Passive skills offer various bonuses or can trigger under specific conditions, such as when the hero takes damage.

Controls

The default controls for Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel are as follows:

*The attack mode is set to Smart by default. The attack button is only needed when attack mode is set to Manual.
†Aiming is set to automatic by default. Aiming controls are only used in manual aiming mode.

Tips and Tricks

• Players can earn gold and soulstones during raids, which can be used to purchase new weapons for heroes or activate virtues from the main menu. Virtues provide various bonuses and beneficial effects. Virtues offered by gods affect all heroes, while hero-specific virtues only benefit that particular hero.
• At the end of each raid, an information screen displays the DPS of attacks and autocast skills. It is advisable to focus on acquiring three high-DPS skills. Skills like Thunderstorm and Sentinel, offered by Thor, are noted for their high DPS as they auto-target multiple enemies and deal full damage when triggered, provided enough enemies are in range.
• While high DPS skills are important, it's also recommended to acquire autocast skills that help clear the area around the hero or temporarily halt enemy advances. Freya's Divine Wave is a good example, with its circular waves and a slight knockback effect that can momentarily stop most enemies.
