Complete the Angel of Valhalla quest in lightning returns final fantasy xiii. Learn how to defeat the Chocobo Eater using lightning attacks.
Schemata Setup:
Passion Rouge (default)
- Deprotect Level 2 (locked)
- Guard Level 2
- Thundara
- Deshell Level 2 (locked)
This schema is recommended as your default due to its Saboteur-like abilities. The Level 2 versions of Deshell and Deprotect can immediately debuff almost any enemy, making it good practice to start each battle by debuffing before switching to a more aggressive schema. A Level 2 Guard ability can block all but the strongest attacks. Thundara is an excellent augment due to the wide variety of enemies vulnerable to it.
Electronica
- Fire
- Aero
- Thunder+ Level 2 (locked)
- Blizzard
Switch between this and Ignition depending on an enemy’s weakness. Start with Electronica as your staple magical schema. Adding a variety of elemental spells enables you to deal with almost any enemy with ease. Thunder+ is an incredibly strong spell and remains useful for a large portion of the game. Equip magic-boosting accessories and equipment. You will be relying on Electronica heavily for the next day, as its Thunder+ ability is very powerful.
Nocturne
- Galestrike Level 2
- Guard Level 1
- Attack Level 2 (locked)
- Sparkstrike Level 2
Nocturne will be your primary physical damage dealer, with the ability to strike in an elemental way if needed. Sparkstrike will become very useful during the next day or two to defeat some powerful adversaries. Equip a strong sword and shield with high strength and HP to boost your attacking prowess. Use strength and physical-based accessories.
- 1After equipping yourself, head to the blue ! where Dr Gysahl waits to tell you about the Angel of Valhalla.
- 2Speak with the villagers for more information. The man you need is a red-haired one chopping wood in the southwestern corner, named Seven. He tells you that the Angel seeks out his mortal foe, a Chocobo Eater.
- 3The last sighting of a Chocobo Eater was in the City of Ruins to the northeast. Head in that direction (marked by the blue !).
- 4Pick up any flowers on the way and fight every monster (except Reavers) you see to build a collection of abilities.
- 5Be very careful upon arriving in the City of Ruins, as Reavers have a habit of appearing in confined spaces. Avoid them if possible, as fighting them can deplete restorative items needed for the Chocobo Eater battle.
- 6Behemoths in the City of Ruins are powerful. They heal themselves and become aggressive after taking significant damage. While defeatable, they consume potions and EP you shouldn’t waste at this stage. Head for the waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination) when ready.
- 7Boss Battle - Chocobo Eater: The Chocobo Eater starts with half HP and has a weakness for lightning-based attacks. Start by casting Deshell and Deprotect.
- 8Drive its Stagger Wave up with extended use of Thundara, Thunder+, and Sparkstrike. Use Guard when possible, as some of its attacks are difficult to predict.
- 9Once staggered, focus on dealing as much damage as possible with physical attacks. Use Overclock in this state.
- 10Repeat your strategy, chipping away at its HP. Be aware that as it nears death, it uses “I’ll Cook Them,” which boosts its attack power significantly. Try to finish it off quickly. Use another Overclock if necessary.
- 11After the battle, run back to Canopus Farms to see how the Chocobo Eater is faring.
- 12Talk to the Chocobo Eater and select “Give to him,” then choose the Gysahl Greens.
