Azure Rathalos

The Azure Rathalos is a more aggressive sub-species of Rathalos encountered from High Rank. Unlike the regular Rathalos, it can poison hunters with its talons.

• Deserted Island: 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 (Spawn and Rest)
• Volcano: 1, 2, 3 (Spawn), 4, 6 (Rest), 8

Key Attacks

• Fireball: Launches a single fireball or a volley of three. Can be used on the ground or in the air.
• Fireball Launch: Blasts a fireball forward and launches into the air.
• Venom Claw: From the air, attempts to 'scratch' the hunter with poisoned claws. Signalled by claws being lowered.
• Air Charge: 'Slithers' towards the hunter while in the air.
• Charge: Charges forward, using its entire body as a weapon.
• Swoop: Flies high, circles the arena, then swoops down to attack.

Recommended Strategy

• Stay close to the Azure Rathalos's legs, but not directly under its body.
• Be prepared to create space when it takes to the skies, as it is more dangerous in the air.
• Constantly move to react to its expanded moveset.
• The poisonous talon attacks are a particular threat if it gets too close while airborne.
