Never judge a book by its cover; this large and peculiar-looking bird can be a bane for novice hunters due to its wild and explosive attacks, plus its ability to summon other large monsters into the fray. A Great Jaggi is annoying enough, but a Rathian? Yikes!

• Sandy Plains: 2, 3, 4 (Spawn), 7 (Rest), 8
• Misty Peaks: 4, 5, 6 (Spawn), 7, 9 (Rest)

Key Attacks:

• Explosion Dance: The Peco knocks its flints together before lunging, causing an explosion upon landing. Can happen up to three times. Roll past the Peco as it lunges to avoid.

• Spit: The Peco spits balls that lower fire resistance on hit.
• Tail Swipe: Swings its tail in a circular motion, used if a hunter is behind.
• Flight: While flying, can charge, spit, or peck downward.

Recommended Strategy:

• Tackle the Qurupeco from its side to avoid sudden explosions.
• Adopt a cautious attack and dodge mantra, attacking in windows between its swift and vicious moves. Stay outside its attack range when necessary.
• The calls and dances are prime opportunities to attack and deal significant damage.
• Master dodging the Explosion Dance and keep moving when the Peco is airborne. Look for big attack windows.
