Gigginox

Learn how to defeat the Gigginox in monster hunter 3 ultimate. Weak to Fire and Dragon, it's found in the Tundra.

Gigginox are flying wyverns native to the Tundra. In contrast to other flying wyverns, Gigginox are typically found inside caverns; they are also blind, using body heat to sense their prey. When enraged, their entire body drastically changes colour.

Habitat:

• Tundra: Areas 2, 3, 4, 5 (Spawn and Rest), 7

Properties:

Weak Spots: Head/Neck (No Rage), Tail (Rage)

Susceptible To: Fatigue, Sleep

Strong Against: Ice, Thunder, Water

Weak Against: Fire, Dragon

Part Durability:

• Head: High Durability (Effect: Large Lurch)
• Neck/Body: Very High Durability (Effect: Lurch)
• Front Legs (x2): High Durability (Effect: Lurch/Knockdown)
• Hind Legs (x2): Medium Durability (Effect: Knockdown)
• Tail: Low Durability (Effect: Lurch)

Breakable Parts:

• Head: Break by decreasing durability. Effect: Fatigue State, Extra Rewards.
• Breast: Break by decreasing Neck/Body durability. Effect: Extra Rewards.
• Tail: Break by decreasing durability. Effect: Extra Rewards.

Rage Effects:

• Attack: 120%
• Defence: No Change
• Speed: 110%

Key Attacks:

• Body Slam: The Gigginox rears up onto its legs and then slams down where it was stood. This can also create a poison cloud.
• Poison Spit: The Gigginox pulls its head back and then launches a glob of poison towards the hunter.
• Ceiling Crawl: The Gigginox clings to the ceiling. From here it will either spit poison down, attempt to grab a hunter, or ‘launch’ itself back to the floor.
• Charge: The Gigginox moves forward, swinging its head and using its body to damage the hunter.
• Egg Lay: The Gigginox will either lay a Giggi egg or a poison bomb. Watch out for the latter, if you see a glint of purple move away.

Recommended Strategy:

The Gigginox is a poison machine that can make sustained attacks a massive risk. Simply put you don’t want to stay near the Gigginox for any period of time. Second - the Gigginox’s face looks like its tail. Watch its wings to correctly identify which end the eggs will come from and which the poison spit will come from.

So you’re attacking cautiously, avoiding poison, and correctly identifying the Gigginox’s head. Good. Those are the fundamental things to consider at all times. The other key moment in any Gigginox fight is when he ceiling crawls, at which point your aim is to run as far away as possible for fear of poison rain.
