Complete The Grand Tree quest in Old School RuneScape. Talk to the King at the Grand Tree to start and receive a translation book and bark sample.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Talk to the King at the Grand Tree in the northern area of the Gnome Stronghold. He will give you a translation book and a bark sample.
  2. 2
Take the translation book and bark sample to Hazelmere, who is south of Ardougne on a spit of land near the magic guild town.
  3. 3
On the peninsula, you will encounter level 47 jungle spiders. Hazelmere's house is on top of a hill. Enter and talk to him. He will take the sample and show you a message.
  4. 4
The translated message reads: "Human came with kings seal, Gave human Daconia rocks, Daconia rocks will kill tree".
  5. 5
Return to the King at the Grand Tree. Select the translated message when prompted. You may need to select 'none of the above' three times before the correct option appears.
  6. 6
Go to Glough, located south and slightly west of the path in a tree. Talk to him, and he will say he will handle the matter. Return to the King.
  7. 7
The King informs you that someone has been caught and gives you permission to see the prisoner, Charlie, at the top of the tree.
  8. 8
Talk to Charlie, who asks you to search Glough's home.
  9. 9
Go back to Glough's house and search the cupboard to find a journal. There is also a chest, for which you will receive the key later.
  10. 10
Take the journal back to the King and express your suspicions. The King dismisses your concerns and sends you back to Glough.
  11. 11
Accuse Glough again. He will have you arrested and imprisoned next to Charlie at the top of the tree.
  12. 12
While imprisoned, Charlie tells you about warships being built on Karamja and provides a password for the shipyard foreman.
  13. 13
The King releases you. Use the glider to travel to Karamja to find the foreman. Be aware of level 47 jungle spiders and level 58 Jogres in this area.
  14. 14
Approach the shipyard gate. The shipyard worker (level 44) will ask for a password. Select 'ka', 'lu', and 'min'.
  15. 15
Talk to the foreman. He will ask three questions to verify you are from Glough: "How is Glough's wife?" (She is dead), "What's Glough's favourite food?" (Wormhole), and "What is his new girlfriend called?" (Anita). Answering incorrectly will cause him to attack you, requiring you to restart with a new foreman.
  16. 16
You will receive an invoice. Take it back to the King.
  17. 17
You cannot return via glider as it was broken upon landing. Guards will not let you back into the Gnome Stronghold if you walk. Instead, go to 'Gnome Maze Village' and use the spirit tree to transport back. This requires completion of the Tree Gnome Village quest. If you haven't completed it, talk to Femi at the gate. If she recognizes you as a friend (you've helped her before), she will sneak you in once for free. Otherwise, she will charge you 1000 gp.
  18. 18
The King again refuses to believe your accusations against Glough. Talk to Charlie at the top of the tree again.
  19. 19
Charlie suggests talking to Glough's girlfriend, Anita, who lives near the swamp northwest of the Grand Tree.
  20. 20
Talk to Anita. She will ask you to return a key to Glough, which is the key to the chest in his house.
  21. 21
Open the chest in Glough's house to obtain another translation book and some notes.
  22. 22
Take this evidence to the King. He still doesn't believe you but mentions that his search of Glough's house yielded only four pebbles, which he gives to you.
  23. 23
Using the translation book, you'll discover that rearranging the pebbles spells 'open'.
  24. 24
Go to Glough's house and proceed to the watchtower (requiring level 25 Agility).
  25. 25
Place the pebbles on the stone stand in the watchtower in the following order: 'ho' on the far left, 'ni' on the center left, the dots ':::' on the center right, and 'ha' on the far right.
  26. 26
Warning: After pushing the stone stand, a level 175 Black Demon will attack. Be prepared with prayer (to paralyze) or food.
  27. 27
After defeating the Black Demon, you will have a brief conversation with Glough. Another Black Demon appears and attacks. Once defeated, follow the passageway until you see the King.
  28. 28
The King expresses concern about your injuries. You accuse Glough again.
  29. 29
The King sends guards to investigate. Once your story is proven, he asks for your help one last time to find the last Daconia Stone. Search the roots in the area until you find a small glowing rock.
  30. 30
Return the stone to the King to receive your reward. You can now use the glider. A mine is also accessible under the tree by pushing some roots. To access this mine in the future, enter the Grand Tree and move the tile in the floor.
Tips
  • Using the map provided by Das Pucko can be helpful.
  • Be prepared for combat encounters with level 47 jungle spiders, level 58 Jogres, a level 44 shipyard worker, and a level 175 Black Demon.
  • Bring prayer potions or sufficient food for the Black Demon fight.
  • If you get the shipyard foreman's questions wrong, you will have to start that section again.
