Understand the citation system in "Papers, Please". Learn about penalties, costs, and how citations reset daily.
You will receive a citation in "Papers, Please" if you Approve someone with invalid documents, Deny someone with valid documents, fail to provide a Reason for Denial stamp (as of Day 18), or break any other rule. You will not receive the 5 Credits for processing that person, and the Citation will state the reason.
Receiving a citation may also incur a penalty. These penalties become harsher with each citation you receive per day. Your citations reset at the start of each day. You can receive up to 2 citations daily without penalty.
The 3rd and 4th citations each cost 5 Credits. After that, each subsequent citation increases the penalty by 5 Credits. Citation 5 costs 10 Credits, Citation 6 costs 15 Credits, Citation 7 costs 20 Credits, and so on.
- Always check documents carefully to avoid errors.
- Ensure you use the Reason for Denial stamp when applicable, especially from Day 18 onwards.
- Be mindful of the daily citation limit to avoid escalating penalties.
