After obtaining the Rising Badge, you can finally work on tackling the Elite Four and becoming the Champion of the Pokémon League! Leave the Dragon's Den and enter Blackthorn City. This guide will cover side content before proceeding to the Elite Four.

Master Ball & Legendary Capture Quests!

With the Rising Badge, you can get a Master Ball from Professor Elm in New Bark Town. This is useful for capturing Lugia and Ho-Oh, or other legendary Pokémon. Refer to the following sections for details:

Waterfall HM Item Roundup!

The ability to use Waterfall outside of battle unlocks new areas and items. In Mt. Mortar, enter via the central entrance on Route 42. Use Flash and Surf north to a waterfall. Use Waterfall to scale it. On the upper level, go north through an archway into a new area. Go northwest and Surf to find a Rare Candy. Return to the entrance and go east of it to the water. Surf east and across the next body of water. Before the next pond, go west to grab a Max Potion. Surf north across the next pond. Go west from here, jump over the western of two ledges. Go far west, near where the Rare Candy was. Surf north across the nearby pond. On the other side, go east, over the ledge, then south over the ledge. Hop on the nearby ledge to get TM40 (Defense Curl). Go south over the ledge, west, and backtrack across the pond. Head east and cross to the opposite side of the area.
