PUBG: Battlegrounds ranged weapons guide covering Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, SMGs, Handguns, LMGs, DMRs, and AMRs, including ammo types.

Ammo Types:

  • 9mm and .45 ACP: Typically for Pistols and SMGs.
  • 12 Gauge: For Shotguns.
  • 5.56mm and 7.62mm: Usually for Assault Rifles (ARs), Light Machine Guns (LMGs), and Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs).
  • .300 Magnum: Exclusive to the AWM Sniper Rifle (SR).
  • Bolts: Exclusive to the Crossbow.

Weapon Categories:

  • Assault Rifles (AR): Versatile with good range, fair damage, and a good firing rate. Better suited for more powerful scopes than SMGs. Use either 5.56mm or 7.62mm ammo.
  • Sniper Rifles (SR): Shoot one bullet at a time with a very low firing rate but possess the longest range and high damage. Well-suited for high-magnification scopes. You can steady your aim (Aim Down Sight - ADS) by holding your breath using the "shift" key. The AWM SR uses .300 Magnum and is typically found in Drop Crates. Other SRs usually use 7.62mm, except the Winchester 94 SR which uses .45 ACP and may not accept scopes.
  • Shotguns: Powerful for close quarters due to limited range. The DBS Shotgun has a better firing rate and can often be found in Air Drops. Shotguns usually have a small firing rate but can be lethal with one shot in certain circumstances. Hip firing is an option. The Sawed-Off is a handgun that uses 12 Gauge ammo.
  • Submachine Guns (SMG): Compensate for lower range and damage with a higher firing rate than ARs. Questionable for high-magnification scopes. Good for Close Quarters. Use either 9mm or .45 ACP ammo.
  • Handguns: A good backup when main weapons are out of ammo or unavailable early in a match. The R1895 Handgun uses 7.62mm. The Sawed-Off Handgun uses 12 Gauge.
  • Light Machine Guns (LMG): High firing rate, good damage, and range. Large ammo capacity but long reload times. Uncommon to find. Use 5.56mm or 7.62mm ammo.
  • Designated Marksman Rifles (DMR): Positioned between ARs and SRs. Less damage and range than SRs, but higher firing rate. Better suited for higher magnification scopes than ARs. The VSS DMR uses 9mm ammo and comes with a non-removable scope.
  • Anti-material Rifle (AMR): A powerful weapon using .50 Caliber ammo, with only five bullets. Can destroy vehicles in 1-2 shots and shoot through BRDM-2 windows. Takes SR sight attachments. Currently only spawns in MIRAMAR's CRATES.
  • MISC: Miscellaneous weapon category.

General Carry Capacity: You can carry at most 2 main weapons, 1 handgun, 1 melee weapon, and throwables. Throwables have their own section.

Tips:

  • Only attack at the right moment to avoid being punished.
  • When using SRs, remember you can hold your breath to steady your aim, but not indefinitely.
  • The AWM SR is considered
