Solve the intricate puzzles within the Baker estate, from Mia's VHS Tape to later challenges, to progress through Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

The Baker estate is a labyrinth of horrors, but also clever contraptions designed to keep intruders out... or in. Mastering these puzzles is crucial for survival and progression. This section details the solutions to all major puzzles you'll encounter.

Mia's VHS Tape: "Mia"

This isn't a traditional puzzle, but rather a crucial sequence that teaches you mechanics and provides story context. You'll play as Mia during her ill-fated recording.

• Objective: Follow Mia's instructions to navigate the abandoned house.
• Steps:
  1. Start the tape in the Living Room's VCR in the Main House.
  2. As Mia, follow the cameraman through the house.
  3. When the cameraman asks you to investigate the noise, proceed through the door.
  4. Explore the area until you encounter the first "Molded" enemy. This sequence is scripted; you cannot fight back effectively.
  5. The tape will conclude, returning you to Ethan in the present.
• Reward: Understanding of the house layout, a glimpse into Mia's past, and a sense of impending dread.

Shadow Puzzles (Main House)

These puzzles require you to manipulate objects to cast a specific shadow on a wall, revealing a hidden passage or item.

Ox Statuette Shadow Puzzle

• Location: Main Hall, 1F, Main House.
• Objective: Create the shadow of a spider on the wall to open a secret passage.
• Items Needed: Ox Statuette (found in the Dining Room, on the table).
• Steps:
  1. Place the Ox Statuette onto the pedestal in the Main Hall.
  2. Rotate the statuette until its shadow on the wall forms the distinct shape of a spider.
  3. Once correctly aligned, the hidden door will open, granting access to the Main House's basement.
• Reward: Access to the Processing Area and the Dissection Room.

Eagle Statuette Shadow Puzzle

• Location: Main Hall, 1F, Main House (after returning from the Old House).
• Objective: Create the shadow of an eagle on the wall to open another secret passage.
• Items Needed: Eagle Statuette (found in the Old House, after defeating Marguerite).
• Steps:
  1. Place the Eagle Statuette onto the pedestal in the Main Hall (the same one used for the Ox Statuette, if you've retrieved it).
  2. Rotate the statuette until its shadow on the wall clearly depicts an eagle.
  3. The passage to the outside yard will open.
• Reward: Access to the Yard and the Trailer.

Dog Head Door Puzzle

To escape the Main House and reach the yard, you'll need to collect three Dog Heads and place them into the main door.

• Location: Main Hall, 1F, Main House (the large double door).
• Objective: Insert the three Dog Heads into the corresponding slots on the door.
• Items Needed:
  • White Dog Head: Found in the Living Room, after solving the fireplace puzzle (see below).
  • Blue Dog Head: Found in the Kid's Room (Attic), after defeating the Fat Molded.
  • Red Dog Head: Found in the Main House's basement, in the Dissection Room, after solving the "Mia" VHS tape puzzle and obtaining the Scorpion Key.
• Steps:
  1. Locate all three Dog Heads as you progress through the Main House and its surrounding areas.
  2. Return to the Main Hall.
  3. Approach the large double door and interact with it.
  4. Place each Dog Head into its respective slot. The door will unlock once all three are inserted.
• Reward: Access to the Yard and the Trailer, a safe haven.

Fireplace Puzzle (Living Room)

This subtle puzzle reveals a hidden passage.

• Location: Living Room, 1F, Main House.
• Objective: Find the hidden button to reveal a secret passage.
• Steps:
  1. Enter the Living Room.
  2. Examine the fireplace.
  3. Look closely at the bricks on the right side of the fireplace. One brick will appear slightly different or have a faint marking.
  4. Interact with this brick to press a hidden button.
  5. A secret passage will open behind the fireplace.
• Reward: Access to a hidden room containing the White Dog Head.

Boiler Room Fuse Box Puzzle

Restoring power is essential for progression in the Old House.

• Location: Boiler Room, Old House.
• Objective: Replace the missing fuse to restore power.
• Items Needed: Fuse (found in the Old House, often in the dining area or a nearby storage room).
• Steps:
  1. Locate the Boiler Room in the Old House.
  2. Find the fuse box on the wall.
  3. Notice the missing fuse slot.
  4. Insert the Fuse you've acquired into the empty slot.
  5. Power will be restored to certain areas of the Old House, including the door leading to the Crow Key.
• Reward: Power restored, allowing access to new areas and items.

Happy Birthday Tape Puzzle (Testing Area)

This is one of the game's most elaborate and gruesome puzzles, requiring careful observation and item management.

• Location: Testing Area, 2F, in the "Happy Birthday" room.
• Objective: Complete the "Happy Birthday" trap as depicted in the VHS tape to acquire the Candle.
• Items Needed:
  • Dirty Telescope: Found in the room where you start the tape.
  • Balloon: Found in the room with the water valve.
  • Winding Key: Found in the toilet.
  • Straw Doll: Found in the main puzzle room.
• Steps (as recorded on the tape):
  1. Start the "Happy Birthday" VHS tape in the Testing Area's VCR.
  2. As Clancy, pick up the Dirty Telescope.
  3. Go to the room with the water valve. Turn the valve to drain the water from the main puzzle room.
  4. Pick up the Balloon from the now-drained main puzzle room.
  5. Enter the bathroom and retrieve the Winding Key from the toilet.
  6. Return to the main puzzle room. Place the Balloon on the gas pipe.
  7. Light the Candle (you'll need to find a lighter, usually on the table).
  8. Use the Candle to ignite the gas, causing the balloon to explode.
  9. Retrieve the Straw Doll from the now-accessible area.
  10. Place the Straw Doll on the scale.
  11. Use the Winding Key on the music box.
  12. The door will open, and you'll acquire the Candle.
• Steps (as Ethan, in the present):
  1. After watching the tape, you'll need to replicate Clancy's actions.
  2. Collect the Dirty Telescope from the starting room.
  3. Go to the water valve room. Turn the valve to drain the water.
  4. Pick up the Winding Key from the toilet.
  5. Return to the main puzzle room. Place the Balloon (found in the main room after draining water) on the gas pipe.
  6. Find the Lighter (usually on the table in the main room).
  7. Use the Lighter on the gas pipe to ignite it, causing the balloon to explode.
  8. Retrieve the Straw Doll from the now-accessible area.
  9. Place the Straw Doll on the scale.
  10. Use the Winding Key on the music box.
  11. The door will open, allowing you to retrieve the Candle.
• Reward: The Candle, which is essential for progressing through the Testing Area.
