Mission: The Rescue

In "The Rescue" mission in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Talion must save his ally, Hirgon, from a brutal Uruk ambush. This critical Act II mission in Nurn requires you to fight through waves of enemies and use your wraith abilities to overcome the odds and secure Hirgon's survival.

Mission Briefing

Following the events of the previous mission, Talion learns that Hirgon has been captured by Uruks and is being held for execution. Talion must race against time to reach Hirgon's location and prevent his death, which would have significant repercussions for the Nurn region.

Mission Walkthrough

1. Locate Hirgon: The mission begins with Talion needing to find Hirgon's captors. Follow the objective marker on your minimap to the Uruk encampment where Hirgon is being held.
2. Assault the Camp: Upon arrival, you'll find Hirgon surrounded by a large group of Uruks. The primary objective is to eliminate all the Uruks in the vicinity. This can be a challenging fight, so be prepared for sustained combat.
3. Utilize Wraith Abilities: This is a prime opportunity to make use of Talion's wraith powers. Shadow Strike is excellent for quickly closing distances and taking out isolated enemies. Wraith Flash can stun multiple foes, allowing you to dispatch them with ease. Remember to use your Execution ability when available for powerful finishing moves.
4. Defend Hirgon: As you fight, Uruk reinforcements will continuously arrive. Focus on protecting Hirgon, as failing to do so can lead to mission failure. Keep an eye on his health bar and prioritize threats that are directly attacking him.
5. Combat Tips:
   • Dodge and Parry: Master the dodge and parry mechanics to avoid damage and create openings for counter-attacks.
   • Combat Stance: Use your combat stance to your advantage. Flow between attacks and dodges to maintain momentum.
   • Exploit Weaknesses: If you've gathered intel on the Uruks, exploit their known weaknesses. For example, if they are afraid of fire, use your bow to ite barrels or use fire-based combat finishers.
   • Environmental Hazards: Look for explosive barrels or other environmental hazards that can be used to your advantage to clear out groups of enemies quickly.
6. Confront the Warchief: Eventually, a Warchief will appear, leading the Uruk forces. You will need to defeat this Warchief to fully secure the area and complete the mission. The Warchief will have specific strengths and weaknesses that you can exploit if you have previously dominated or killed other Uruks in the area to gain intel.
7. Mission Completion: Once the Warchief is defeated and all remaining Uruks are cleared, Hirgon will be safe, and the mission will conclude.

Rewards

Completing "The Rescue" typically rewards Talion with experience points, Mirian (the in-game currency), and potentially new gear or runes, depending on your performance and any optional objectives completed.
