Learn how to defeat the Nurses in Silent Hill: Homecoming. Discover their attack patterns, weaknesses, and effective strategies for survival.

The famed Silent Hill Nurse returns in Homecoming, appearing as they did in the movie and wielding a scalpel. They move in sudden, spasmodic bursts, sometimes accompanied by a camera shutter sound.

Weakness: Nurses are passive unless Alex has his flashlight on or makes significant noise (running, bumping into objects). If Alex is quiet and the flashlight is off, Nurses remain still and will not attack. They can be tricked by running and then suddenly walking, causing them to move to Alex's last running position. Alex can even walk directly into a stationary Nurse without being attacked, provided he doesn't run or use the flashlight. However, their movement can become unpredictable later in the game.

Nurses become more aggressive in the Grand Hotel, sometimes performing a constant two-hit slash. In Hard mode, especially after the hospital nightmare, they are very dangerous, with their two-hit slash capable of quickly depleting Alex's health. The handgun from a distance or avoiding them altogether is recommended for Hard mode.

Attacks:

• Scalpel Combo: The Nurse swings its right scalpel hand left, then right. Dodge timing: Press dodge as the Nurse holds the scalpel to the side. Both swings must be dodged unless Alex gets behind the Nurse on the first swing.
• Shouting Scalpel Combo: The Nurse holds its right hand with the scalpel back, shouts, then performs two swings: right, then left. Dodge timing: Dodge right as the Nurse raises its hand; Alex will move behind her. The second swing can be dodged like the first, but it's unnecessary if the first is dodged correctly.
• Overhead Swing: The Nurse steps forward and slashes downward. Dodge timing: Dodge just before the slash.
• Scalpel Stab: Performed at close range, usually after a combo. The Nurse holds both hands back behind its left side and plunges the scalpel forward. Dodge timing: Dodge as the Nurse holds both arms back.

Finishers:

• Dazed Stance: When the Nurse kneels.
• Combat Knife/Ceremonial Dagger: Alex grabs the Nurse's head and stabs her throat twice.
• Steel Pipe/Crowbar: Alex swings the pipe into the Nurse's head, then stabs her while she's on the ground.
• Fire Axe/Pulaski Axe: Alex stands behind the Nurse and chops off her head while she kneels.
