Preparing for First Evolution

First up, we need to decide if you want your Chao to lean towards Hero or Dark. The trick here is feeding them! To push your Chao towards a Hero alignment, just keep feeding it Hero fruits. Want a Dark Chao? Load 'em up with Dark fruits. If you're aiming for a Neutral Chao, you can either feed it an equal mix of Hero and Dark fruits, or just stick with the regular fruits.

Now, about the Chao's actual type – this is what determines if it'll be a Power, Flying, Swimming, Running, or Normal Chao. From what we can tell, your Chao will evolve into whichever stat you've focused on the most. So, if you pump a lot of points into Speed, expect a Running Chao!

First Evolution

Your Chao will go through its first evolution once its Stamina stat reaches around 200. It'll pop into a cocoon for a bit and then emerge evolved. You'll know its alignment by its appearance: a Hero Chao will sport a halo, while a Dark Chao will have a spiky ball above its head. A Neutral Chao will still have that simple round ball it had as a baby.

How do you check what alignment your Chao is (like Power, Flying, etc.)? Just enter a Chao Race! When you're in the race, your Chao's stat screen will pop up, showing you its current alignment and type.

Second Evolution

This next evolution is a bit different – it happens gradually over time, not all at once. It's pretty straightforward: your Chao will evolve into the type that corresponds to the stat it gains the most of. This means it can be a different type than its first evolution! You could end up with a Running/Flying Chao, a Power/Normal Chao, and so on. Honestly, there are about SEVENTY-FIVE different combinations you can end up with, which is pretty wild!
