Your expert guide to Sonic Adventure's Stage Walkthrough (3)! Learn how to collect 400 rings, master the pinball tables, and navigate the tricky basement to grab that Chaos Emerald.
Alright, this stage is a bit different from the others. The main goal here is to collect a total of 400 rings and deposit them into the vault. Once you do that, you'll be able to grab the Chaos Emerald!
When you first enter, you'll see two pinball tables, one to your left and one to your right. Playing these is a great way to rack up rings. Just a heads-up: if you lose all three balls before collecting 100 rings, you'll get sent down to the basement. Don't worry, though – it's actually a good thing because there are tons of rings down there! If you're not much of a pinball wizard, you can even intentionally lose with less than 100 rings to get yourself sent down there on purpose.
Here’s how to get through the basement:
- Start by running up the first ramp. You'll want to destroy the robots you see and grab all the rings along the way. Grab the bomb capsule when you see it.
- Head up the second ramp, collecting all the rings. Then, carefully enter the doorway, making sure to avoid the spiked ball.
- In the next room, position yourself under a path of rings and let the wind carry you upwards.
- At the top, you'll be pulled into a tunnel. Just keep moving forward, grabbing any ring capsules you find, until you reach another fan room.
- It's the same deal here: get under a path of rings, let the wind blow you up, and then you'll be sucked into another tunnel. This one has several spiked balls, so be extra careful as you navigate through it.
- Once you emerge, grab all the rings you can on solid ground. Then, charge up your Light Speed Dash. Run to the edge of the water, jump, and right at the peak of your jump, release the B button. This will carry you across to the other side.
- Climb up the ladder, and you'll find yourself back in the lobby.
Once you've deposited your 400 rings (you don't have to do it all in one go!), you can finally grab the Chaos Emerald.
Note for Mission B: To complete Mission B, you'll first deposit your 400 rings as usual. Then, you'll need to either play pinball again or head back through the sewer area to collect the extra fifty rings required for that mission.
