Alright, so you've just woken up and you're immediately thrown into a fight! Don't worry, it's just a Werewolf and an Eagle, and Velvet is the only one fighting. The werewolf is super weak to fire, so hit it with Searing Edge right away to take it down fast, then turn your attention to the eagle. Just a quick reminder: you always start with 3 souls, and using Break Souls actually heals you a bit, so don't be shy about using it!

After that first automatic skit, Washed Ashore, you'll want to watch a couple more: The Boy Malak's Healing Artes and The Witch's Vagaries. Then, grab the chest nearby for 320 Gald. It's a good idea to save your game here to avoid having to fight Oscar and the Drake again, and then you can head out to the next area.

Figahl Icecaps is your first real field map where you'll run into standard encounters – basically, if you touch an enemy on the map, you'll fight. While it's usually pretty easy to just run past them, skipping fights can leave your party underleveled, making later battles a real pain. So, keep heading north until the area opens up. Look over to the west by the cliff for some Rosemary. Keep going north, and you'll get a scene with Rokurou and Magilou. Now, quickly turn around and head south along the upper path to find a chest containing a Life Bottle. Head back north again, and you'll trigger the skit Prisoners' Tales. Keep pushing forward, and after another scene, you'll get the Ten Gallon Hat!

You'll also find a Katz Box on this map, just like on every other map in the game. These boxes cost Katz Spirits to open, and the rewards are based on the order you open them. Every other box gives you a reward (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.), so don't skip any thinking you'll get something better later – the next one won't have an item either if the current one doesn't.

Continue heading north, and you'll run into that mysterious malak again. He'll give back the Compass he swiped earlier and then run off. Head down the eastern path. When the path opens up, turn around and climb the vines to grab some Sage. Keep going northeast from there, and you'll finally reach Hellawes.
