After the cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and skit The Pirates' Mooring, head toward the save point for the skit Expedition Ship.

Turn around and talk to Benwick for the skit Exploring the Outer Seas and a tutorial.

You will then trigger another skit, The Fruits of Exploring?.

Expeditions allow you to scout islands in the outer seas for materials, recipes, fashion items, and outfits. Each time you send the ship out it will encounter three battles and the outcome of the battles determines the rewards and experience you receive for that voyage. In addition to the previously mentioned rewards, the ship may also find valuable treasures that grant exploration skills that will help with future voyages. In other words, Expeditions are a fun mini-game you want to constantly have running to earn rewards as you progress through the story.

North of the save point is a katz (a type of NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you)) who'll offers two different Mini-Games, each granting Tales Coins that can be turned in for rewards. In addition to the coins obtained, you can also gain rewards by beating the mini-games and unlock additional stages to increase the difficulty of each game.

Head north and speak with the sailor for more information on the abbey's control in Midgand.

Open the Katz Box (a treasure chest) at the end of the northern pier.

Backtrack toward the harbor and collect a Life Bottle across from the pier.

Head south to speak with the marked merchant.

Open the chest behind the merchant, near the main gate, for a Denore Bottle.

Speak with the dock trader for more information on the mooring deal Eizen has set up.

Head south toward the shops and grab the 720 Gald (in-game currency) to the left of the stairs.

Enter the inn to speak with another sailor.

Open the chest to the right of the southern exit for a Calcite Blade.

Approach the gate for the skit Code Red Daemons.
