    After the cutscene and the skit Taking the Boy, speak with Rokurou and Dyle near the helm, then Magilou at the stern. Talk to Number Two for another scene.

    Engage in a boss fight against Pirate Malak (HP: 11247).

    After the boss fight and a cutscene, speak with the pirate Benwick and Magilou for the skit Shared Interests. Then, talk to Dyle about the Van Aifread pirates.

    After purchasing supplies, climb the vines to collect the Earth Ring. Enter the tunnels.

Strategy: This is a 3 vs. 1 fight. The malak's attacks are not extremely strong, and Number Two can heal minor damage. Focus on dealing damage and blocking to recover Soul Gauge (SG) to minimize incoming damage. The fight ends when the enemy reaches half health.

Tips
  • Dire Foes can appear if you fight consecutively in an area with high grade. They are very difficult and should be avoided until you have at least 4 party members.
  • The gap near the Rosemary collectible is a point of no return for some items until much later in the game.
