Walkthrough for Ehmead Hill in Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, including item locations, side quests, and a detailed strategy for the Gattuso boss fight.
Scene upon entry. After, follow the path for another scene. Now go up the path to yet another scene.
Proceed and you will come to a fork. Go north and another scene will begin. Follow this path to a chest containing a Francisca. Backtrack a little and take the lower path to find a chest containing 3x Poison Bottle. Now, go back to the first fork and take the right path. Continue east until you find a chest with a Melange Gel inside.
Backtrack and go north this time where you'll find another fork. Go west for a Scarf. To the east is 2x Life Bottles. Keep following the path until you see a save point. Take the northwest path near it to a save point. The chest to the northwest has a Tama-hagane inside.
Now this might sound strange. But stop here and backtrack to Halure. A few Side Quests have suddenly opened up there. And it's better to do them now rather than backtrack a significantly larger distance for them later. I suggest that even those of you who don't care about Side Quests also backtrack to Halure. Your party is likely worn down by now. By returning to Halure, you will have one more chance to recover and update your equipment. I warn you now. You're going to want to be fully prepared for a very difficult fight that is coming next. Once you have returned to Halure, you can initiate the following Side Quests:
- Halure Side Quests
- Elucifur's Grave: Part 1 — Talk to the couple standing near Halure's entrance.
- Halure Tree: Part 1 — Talk to the old man by the giant tree.
That's all for now. Rest at the Inn. Restock. Update equipment if needed. And run from any fights on the way back to the save point on Ehmead Hill. You need to face this boss at your full power. You can't afford to let random encounters wear you down before the battle even starts.
Proceed past the Ehmead Hill save point to a boss fight.

- Secret Mission: Knock down Gattuso while he is stunned by a Billybally.
- Strategy: Welcome to THAT BOSS of Tales of Vesperia. He is far more difficult than the bosses that have come before him and even harder than many bosses that come after. He is extremely fast and can kill your party members in the blink of an eye. To make things even worse, he has two Gattuso Cubs as backup. First and foremost. His back up has got to go. Go to the strategy settings and set your party members to spread out. Then activate Over Limit with Yuri and spam Destruction Field to deal as much damage as you can to the cubs. Use Over Limit anytime you can and pop orange gels to keep Yuri fueled to dish out Destruction Field attacks. Once the wolves are down, you can focus on the real threat, who has probably already KO'd you or your other party members several times by now. To complete the Secret Mission, focus your attention on the Billybally flowers on the edges of the field and wait next to them. When Gattuso comes to attack you, strike the flower. If you're lucky, it will stun him. Then knock him down with Destruction Field or by activating Over Limit right next to him to complete the Secret Mission. As for actually killing the beast, have Rita relentlessly cast Fireball to take advantage of his weakness to fire while you combo him with Yuri and use Destruction Field when you can. Do everything you can to keep him away from Rita and Estelle, as they will be practically helpless if he closes in on them.
- Drops: Power Light, Great Wolf Fang
- Secret Mission Drops: Attack Ring

- Elucifur's Grave: Part 2 — Examine the grave on the cliff overlooking the ocean for a scene.
You can check the south portion of this area for a chest containing an Orange Gel. Continue down the path to the south now and when you come to a fork, go east and follow the path to the north. Open the chests here for an Armet Helm, 2000 Gald, and a Holy Bottle.
Go back to the fork and proceed to the south for a scene that teaches you about camping. You will receive a Tent. After, go west to leave. Once you are on the World Map, stop and immediately go back inside Ehmead Hill.
- Ehmead Hill Side Quest (2)
- Brionac: Part 2 — Proceed to the east along the main road for a scene.
Now you can leave this place. Follow the road on the World Map to the next town.
