Dr. Waverley Ackroyd

Waverley Ackroyd is a doctor at the hospital. If you embrace him, you will obtain a key that unlocks a cabinet in the Doctors' office containing 200/- and medical supplies. Waverley disapproves of modern medicine methods. Speak to Waverley and ask him about the Pembroke Hospital. Waverley's skills are admired but he is seen as proud and arrogant. Read the Note to Dr. Swansea in Dr. Swansea's office. Waverley will not use regulations to deprecate Thoreau Strickland despite their rivalry. After progressing the Missing Ingredients investigation and returning to Strickland, speak to Ackroyd and select "Personal questions" / "Strickland's chance to cure the flu?".

Newton Blight

Newton Blight appears down by the river at the start of Chapter 2. If you embrace him, you will receive Newton's Saber. Newton's phobia of rats prevented him from rescuing his missing friend, acquired during Newton's introductory dialogue. Newton and Oswald Thatcher were buried alive by a bombing during the war. When speaking to Oswald, select "Personal questions" / "Your fear of being enclosed" / "You got buried". Newton doesn't accept his homosexuality. After finding out about his relationship with Oswald, select "How do you feel about Oswald Thatcher?". Newton and Oswald Thatcher are in love with each other. After finding out about them being buried alive, ask Oswald what happened and pursue the "Shameful thoughts?" topic.

Gwyneth Branagan

Gwyneth Branagan is a nurse at the hospital. If you embrace her, you will receive Gwyneth's Surgical Knife and treatments for various ailments. Gwyneth is overqualified as a nurse, according to Corcoran Tippets. Speak to Corcoran Tippets about the staff and ask about positive characters. Gwyneth has covered Corcoran Tippets' medical error. Speak to her about the error after finding the body in the basement during the Night Shift quest. Gwyneth has been suspected of neglecting her professional duties. Read the Letter to Doctor Swansea in Dr. Ackroyd's office, unlocked at the end of the Missing Ingredients investigation.

Rakesh Chadana

Rakesh Chadana operates a morgue near the northern entrance of the hospital. If you embrace him, you will gain the key to his trunk containing Rakesh's Surgical Saw and the contents of his inventory. Rakesh is not afraid of death since he served as a medic, unlocked during your first conversation - follow the "Your life in London" line of questioning. Rakesh steals from the dead he is responsible for. Wait for him to go into the wooden enclosure in the makeshift morgue and eavesdrop on him from inside the hospital. Rakesh has been appointed as a medic by mistake during the war. Read the Letter of Rakesh Chadana in Dr. Swansea's office.

Clay Cox

Clay Cox is a career criminal who may not survive your first encounter. If you embrace him, you will receive Clay's Hatchet, 50/- and his Wedding Ring. Clay considers the knife that his wife gave him as his lucky charm. After reading the letter from his wife, ask him about it. Clay had murdered the brother of the man who tried to kill him. Ask about the man Clay pushed into the water and whether it was revenge. Clay intends to remain a gang leader after his recovery. Ask how long he hopes to avoid the law and follow up with "We must all pay the price". Clay is married to Edwina Cox. Search one of the tents to find a Crumpled Letter and read it. When you learn about Clay's lucky knife, offer to get it back for him. You can find this after fighting the Sewer Beast in Chapter 2.

Thomas Elwood

Thomas Elwood is a patient at the hospital. If you embrace him, you will receive some medical components and Thomas's Cross. Thomas feels responsible for his disfigurement during the war. Read Thomas's medical file in the operating theatre on the upper floor of the hospital. Thomas feels too ashamed by his injury to see his family. After reading his medical file, speak to him about it and select the conversation option "You can't hide forever". Thomas sees Thelma Howcroft as living proof that there is hope for him. Speak to Thomas about Thelma's belief that she is a vampire after talking to her.

Harvey Fiddick

Harvey Fiddick is a patient at the hospital. If you embrace him, you will receive some medical supplies and a Pretty Cameo. Harvey will not be able to feed his family as long as his arm is still injured. Pick up the Unfinished Letter from the desk behind Harvey and read it. Harvey is blaming himself for his injury. After learning of Thoreau Strickland's lack of success in his experiments, follow his "About your blood transfusion technique" conversation thread to learn about Harvey Fiddick. Harvey's wife died during the war. Having spoken to Strickland, ask Harvey why he feels guilty about his injury.

Beatrice Goswick

Beatrice is Mortimer's mother and can be found in the side room where he is being treated. If you embrace her, you will receive a Beautiful Necklace, some Beautiful Earrings and key to the safe in the Goswicks' flat which contains 350/-. Beatrice questions the Pembroke Hospital's efficiency. When speaking to her, select "Your life in London?" / "Complaints about your reception here?". Beatrice refuses to acknowledge her son's suicidal tendency. After completing Burn After Reading, select "Your son could try to kill himself again!" / "He is lucky to have you". Beatrice hid her son's suicide attempt to keep him out of jail. Learn about Mortimer's attempt to take his own life and confront her with the information.
