Learn how to earn money and spend it wisely in Assassin's Creed II. Discover the best ways to make florins and what to buy from blacksmiths, tailors, and more!
Assassin's Creed II has a pretty cool economic system where you can earn money and spend it however you like. There are tons of things to buy, and plenty of ways to keep those florins coming in.
How to Make Money:
- Missions: Completing story and side missions always gives you a bit of florins. The later story missions will give you better rewards, naturally.
- Pick-pocketing: Hold [X] while walking around to bump into people and steal their money. The amounts are tiny at first, but if you do it often enough, it really adds up over time.
- Looting: Similar to pick-pocketing, you don't get much from looting bodies. It's an option, and a decent way to make a little extra cash early on, but it's not super reliable overall.
- Chests: You'll find chests hidden all over the cities with small amounts of money. Some of them can have quite a bit! If you visit an Art Merchant, you can buy a map that shows you where to find chests in a specific area.
- The Villa: Once your Villa Auditore is up and running, it becomes your biggest money-maker by far. Invest enough in it, and you'll see a much larger return. For more details, check out the Villa section of the guide.
What to Spend Your Money On:
- Blacksmiths: These guys sell armor and weapons. They can get Ezio new primary and secondary weapons, and also restock his throwing knives or smoke bombs. What they have available usually depends on how far you've progressed in the game. Blacksmiths can also repair your damaged armor for a small fee.
- Art Merchants: Art merchants sell, well, art! The paintings you buy from them increase the value of your Villa. The biggest boost comes from buying all 30 of them. Each city has different artwork available. Art Merchants also sell those handy maps that show you treasure chest locations.
- Tailors: A tailor lets you customize Ezio's outfits for a small fee, which is a nice touch for personalization. More importantly, though, the Tailor sells pouches that let Ezio carry more medicine, throwing knives, and poison.
- Doctor: The doctor can heal Ezio for a small fee. He also sells medicine that Ezio can carry, and later on, poison too.
