Learn how to complete the 'Debt Collector' quest in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Rescue Phoibe, deal with Duris, and understand the mercenary system.
Walkthrough
- 1The quest starts immediately after you find out Phoibe's been captured. The bad guys are holding her in a bandit camp. It's located south-east of the vineyard. Hop on your horse and make your way there to get her back.
- 2As you get close to the camp, about 100 meters out, it's a really good idea to send out Ikaros. This lets you scout the area, see where the enemies are, and get a feel for the terrain. Seriously, make this a habit – it'll save you a lot of trouble later.
- 3Ride into the camp. A short cutscene will play. Once it's done, you'll have to fight the bandits to free Phoibe. If you're feeling good about the combat, jump right in! Use a mix of light and heavy attacks, and don't forget to parry. If you're not quite there yet, try sneaking around. Crouch in the tall grass and try to take out as many bandits as you can with stealth assassinations before they spot you.
- 4After you've dealt with all the bandits, go over to Phoibe, untie her, and have a chat.
- 5A flashback cutscene will play. Afterward, Phoibe will tell you that Talos the Stone Fist, a bounty hunter hired by the Cyclops, is after you. This is your first introduction to the bounty hunter system in the game.
- 6Open up the 'Mercenaries' menu. Here you can check out Talos's stats and set him as a target to track him.
- 7Once Talos is tracked, keep your distance from him. Your next immediate task is to go collect the money (drachmae) you're owed from a merchant named Duris in Sami.
- 8When you talk to Duris, he'll claim he doesn't have the cash. You've got three options here:
- You can destroy his merchandise to force him to pay up.
- 9You can let him off the hook. If you do this, he'll give you a better sword as a thank you.
- 10You can kill him and then loot his body to get your money and whatever else he might have.
Tips
- Using Ikaros to scout enemy camps before you go in is super helpful for planning your approach, whether you're going in loud or quiet.
- The bounty hunter system is a core part of the game. Keep an eye on who's hunting you and decide if you want to take them on or avoid them for now.
- When dealing with Duris, consider the rewards. Letting him go gets you a free sword, while killing him guarantees your payment but might have other consequences.
- Experience Points
- Drachmae (depending on your choice with Duris)
- Potentially a new sword (if you let Duris go)
