Start your journey in Athens! This guide covers meeting Herodotus, finding Perikles, and getting your first quests in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Alright, you've upgraded the Spear of Leonidas and now it's time to head to the big city: Athens! Hop on your ship and set sail southwest towards the Heights of Thorikos. Keep your eyes peeled for pirate ships on the way – these waters can be tricky, and some pirates might be way tougher than you. Your best bet is to use Ikaros to scout their level before you even think about engaging. If they're more than five levels higher, it's probably best to just steer clear.

As you get close to the shore, a little cutscene will play. Herodotus will pop up and ask you to meet him at the Pynx in Athens when you're ready. You can totally take your time now to explore the area or knock out some side quests if you want, but it's not required. Whenever you're good to go, just mount up your horse and head for Athens. When you're nearing the city, aim for the northeast entrance. Again, use Ikaros to get a lay of the land and spot any important places.

You'll find Herodotus chilling at the Pynx. Walk up to him, and another cutscene will kick off. After that, he'll take you to meet Perikles. Chat with him about what he needs you to do – don't stress too much about the dialogue choices, they don't really change things here. You'll get three new quests, and this part of the walkthrough will wrap up.
