Master Irithyll of the Boreal Valley in Dark Souls III. Learn how to defeat Sulyvahn's Beasts, find the Pontiff's Right Eye ring, and activate the bonfire with this expert guide.

Alright, so you've made it through High Lord Wolnir's area. From his bonfire, head up the stairs and you'll find yourself entering the stunning, yet treacherous, Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. First things first, make sure you activate that bonfire right away!

As you head through the big archway and start crossing the bridge, do yourself a favor and glance behind you. You'll notice one of Pontiff Sulyvahn's Beasts is going to spawn back there. These guys are nasty and only show up once, so they're a bit of a unique encounter. They love to do this big charge attack with their mouths wide open, hoping to catch you. If you try to attack them from the sides, they'll whip their head around and try to bite you. It's a bit of a pain.

Here's a neat trick though: if you run back through the archway, the beast will actually de-spawn. When it reappears, it'll keep any damage you've already done. So, what you can do is spawn it, use your bow to get a few good shots in, then roll past it as it charges. Once you're on the safe side of the arch, you can keep firing arrows until it de-spawns. Just repeat this a few times.

Keep doing that – lure it out, shoot it, dodge its attack, and retreat to the arch for safety. It might take a few tries, but you'll eventually take it down. When you do, you'll be rewarded with the Pontiff's Right Eye ring. After that, go ahead and cross the rest of the bridge, grab the Homeward Bone you'll find there, and make sure to activate the next bonfire. You'll need it!
