Navigate the treacherous Darkroot Garden in Dark Souls Remastered. Find secrets, defeat Demonic Foliage, Tree Lizards, and the Moonlight Butterfly boss with our detailed walkthrough.

From the Undead Parish bonfire, make your way down to Andre. Go down again into another room to find a new enemy. We will ignore it for now but we will return soon to deal with it so run past it and to the left. You will soon come across a new enemy.

--Demonic Foliage--

These tree demons are fairly easy to kill and often die in two or three hits. The best part about these enemies is they drop some very important items needed for an upcoming area. Apart from that, they are of no real threat to you unless they appear in big groups.

Drops: Purple Moss Clump, Blooming Purple Moss Clump, Bloodred Moss Clump.

--NOTE--

As mentioned above, the Moss Clumps that these guys drop are very valuable for the swamps of Blighttown as the Purple Moss Clump helps deal with poison and the Blooming Moss Clumps helps for Toxic. I would recommend you farm about 15-20 Purple Moss Clumps and about 5-10 Blooming Moss Clumps before you finish the garden. The drop rates are pretty high so it should be a fairly quick farm. The Bloodred Moss Clumps help cure bleed but it is less important then the others. Try and get a few Red Moss as the next area we are going to has a few bleed enemies but ultimately, they are not essential to acquire.

After killing the first tree, ignore the path to the right and head straight. The right path will take us to Darkroot Basin which we will go to later. Kill another Foliage on the narrow walkway and when you reach the slightly larger area, two more Foliage will be here so deal with them. Grab the Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier hidden behind the rock. Run up to the door with the glowing light and go to the wall to the left. This is a secret wall and behind it is a bonfire so rest here.

Ignore the glowing door and go down the path behind. When you see the fog wall, head right to a little dead end. There are three Foliage in here waiting to ambush you when you grab the item. You can hit them while they are in the ground. Afterwards, grab the Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier. Head through the fog wall.

Hug the left wall and just before the path swerves to the left, kill the Foliage in the ground, then take the left path. At the end is a new enemy on the tree.

--Tree Lizard--

These guys like to hang on the large tress, ambushing players who pass underneath them. Their bites can inflict poison but are very easy to kill in general.

Drops: Egg Vermifuge

Grab the Partizan that the Lizard was guarding. Return back to the entrance and go to the right to find a new enemy.

--Possessed Tree--

Okay, so this thing isn't really an enemy, rather a nuisance and yes, it is indeed... a tree. They normally just block off parts of the garden but are of no threat to the player.

Drops: N/A

Go past the Tree and you will find another new enemy.

--Frog Ray--

Frog Rays are fairly simple enemies. They mainly jump at you or try and hit you with their tongue. Like most enemies in the garden, they are fairly easy to kill although they tend to appear in groups.

Drops: Green Blossom

Run down to the left and kill another Possessed Tree at the end. Hug the left wall here and ignore the path to the right for now. When the path turns around the cliff, a few Frog Rays will jump at you so finish them off. Grab a Soul of a Proud Knight for your troubles.

Now, take the right path to find another new enemy.

--Giant Stone Knight--

Despite their size, they are also simple to defeat. They are very slow and fairly defensive but staying behind them and wailing on them is an easy way to finish them off quickly. They always start lying down so you do have the advantage. They can cast Tranquil Walk of Peace which slows your movements down so try and kill them before that happens.

Drops: Stone Greatshield, Stone Greatsword.

Kill the Stone Knight and proceed up the stairs. Another Stone Knight is at the top here so finish this one off as well. Right at the very top is the Wolf Ring. Now jump back to the ledge just before the bonfire and make your way back to it. Make sure you are human before you proceed.

Proceed back to the area behind the fog wall, killing the Foliage on the left wall. There is another Tree Lizard on the tree on the far left side. The rest of this area is crawling with Stone Knights and Foliage. Kill the Stone Knight by the ruins and focus on baiting the Foliage and the Stone Knights one at a time. Grab the Elite Knight Set once you dealt with the enemies and proceed into the ruins at the back.

In the back under a bush, is a summon sign for Beatrice who will help you out with this boss. The boss is fairly easy but Beatrice can essentially solo it as this boss is more annoying then difficult. Go up the stairs to the boss fog. Equip the Caduceus Shield to protect yourself from the magic damage this boss deals then head on through.

--BOSS: Moonlight Butterfly--

The boss again only has a few attacks.

Homing Missiles

The boss will shoot a bunch of slow but fairly high damage orbs at you. These are easy to avoid but you want to avoid blocking them as it can still do a hefty amount of damage.

Magic Spears

The boss will also shoot some very fast spears at you. These come out three at a time and in two waves almost simultaneously. These are really fast and rolling is risky. Blocking is the best for this attack.

Magic Beam

A fairly rare attack but the boss may shoot you with a beam attack. This is quite powerful but a well timed roll can deal with this. Again, avoid blocking if you can help it.

Magic Bomb

Sometimes, the boss will fly to the opposite side of the bridge. From there, it may throw a bomb attack down on the bridge. Simply run away to survive this. The boss only seems to do this under 50% HP.

Strategy

Unless you are playing a magic or range focused build, hitting this boss will be a nightmare. You have to wait and avoid its atta
