Navigate the Duke's Archives in Dark Souls Remastered. Find keys, defeat Crystal Soldiers and Channelers, and learn how to progress past Seath the Scaleless.
Walkthrough
- 1From the Anor Londo bonfire, teleport and defeat the Fire Keeper to get a Fire Keeper Soul. Head left, past Giant Sentinels, and up the stairs.
- 2In the corridor, defeat the armored Boar. Continue to the next corridor and defeat another Boar.
- 3Rest at the Bonfire and take the elevator up.
- 4At the top, turn left and kill the Crystal Soldier. Proceed upstairs, dealing with more Crystal Soldiers and an Archer.
- 5In the next room, kill the Crystal Golem to acquire the Broken Pendant (requires DLC and talking to Dusk after freeing her).
- 6In the following room, kill the Crystal Soldier on the left, then the Channeler. Be quick as Channelers here respawn and teleport. Use the Lightning Halberd if available.
- 7Go under the stairs, kill another Crystal Soldier, and pick up a Soul of a Brave Warrior.
- 8Head up the stairs, killing Crystal Soldiers. At the T-section, go left, kill the Archer, then head left again to find a chest with Twinkling Titanite.
- 9Go right, kill the Soldier, and two more Crystal Soldiers at the end. Defeat the Mimic behind them and loot the Crystal Knight Shield.
- 10Exit onto the balcony, kill the Soldier on the left, and grab another Twinkling Titanite.
- 11At the top of the stairs, pull the lever to reach the next level.
- 12In the narrow corridor, bait and kill the crystallised warrior. Lower the lift for convenience but do not ride it.
- 13Run up the stairs. Halfway up, kill the Crystal Lizard for Twinkling Titanite x2.
- 14Equip the Rare Ring of Sacrifice and enter the fog wall to face Seath. You must die here to progress. Seath cannot be killed at this stage. The Ring of Sacrifice prevents loss of souls/humanity upon death. Be mindful of Curse build-up.
- 15After dying, you'll be in the Prison area. Re-equip your previous ring. Rest at the Bonfire in your cell.
- 16Strike the Serpent Soldier once to acquire the Archive Tower Cell Key.
- 17As you leave your cell, a cutscene plays. After it, kill the two Serpent Soldiers on the stairs.
- 18Run to the bottom and kill the Pisacas.
- 19Open the third cell from yours with the Archive Key. Kill the two Crystal Soldiers inside, then drop left, kill the Soldier, and grab the Archive Prison Extra Key.
- 20Open the cell door and head back up to the cell above the one you just looted. Open it with the Extra Key and grab a Large Soul of a Brave Warrior.
- 21Go to the top and up the ladder. Skip the cell before your own or kill the Crystal Soldier inside.
- 22Follow the wooden boards along the side and drop off at the end onto a lower shelf. Enter the cell to grab the Maiden Set and the White Seance Ring. Drop down to return to the Bonfire.
- 23Run to the back of your cell and kill the three Crystal Soldiers. Open the cell door with the Extra Key, then drop right to a lower shelf for a Soul of a Brave Warrior.
- 24Continue dropping down to land on the platform with the horn. Kill the Serpent Soldiers and Serpent Mage. Loot the chest for the Archive Tower Giant Door Key.
- 25Pull the lever next to the horn to turn off the contraption. Head down the ladder.
- 26Kill the two Pisacas that won't aggro until attacked. They drop the Soothing Sunlight Miracle and Bountiful Sunlight Miracle.
- 27Talk to Logan. You will need to find a key later on to progress his questline.
Tips
- The Boar at the start of the Archives has armor on its back, preventing backstabs. Pyromancies are effective.
- Crystal Soldiers are dangerous due to high damage. Backstabs are effective if you can isolate them. Avoid large groups.
- Channelers respawn and can teleport. Prioritize killing them quickly to prevent them from repositioning.
- The crystallised warrior can parry you but is slow and easily defeated.
- The Rare Ring of Sacrifice is crucial for the Seath encounter to avoid losing souls/humanity upon death.
- Pisacas can be dangerous with their grab attack; avoid it.
- If you miss killing Serpent Soldiers or Pisacas, quitting and reloading the game can reset their positions.
