Tips
  • This area is the point of no return. Ensure all other objectives are complete before proceeding. Killing the final boss automatically triggers New Game Plus (NG+).
  • Elizabeth Mushrooms are useful for quick healing during the Gwyn fight as they are faster to use than Estus Flasks.
  • Heavier weapons can stagger Gwyn easily.
  • If you are struggling, consider using the 'Easy' or 'Super Easy' strategies detailed below.
  • Solaire can be summoned as a distraction, but be mindful he can interfere with parry windows and the 'Super Easy' rock strategy.

Boss: Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Gwyn is susceptible to staggering, especially from heavier weapons.
  • All of Gwyn's attacks except his grab and kick can be parried.

Phases:

  1. Sword Attacks:
    • Close range: Fast, up to four-hit combos. Blocking is recommended.
    • Two-handing sword: Slower, harder-hitting combos, easier to dodge.
    • Lunge: Used when just out of range.
    • Jump Attack: Used when far away; get close to avoid.
  2. Grab Attack: Easily telegraphed but deals significant damage and throws the player far. Avoid when animation starts.
  3. Kick: Deals heavy stamina damage if blocked and can set up for a grab attack. Avoid when seen.

Strategy:

  • Medium Strategy: Fight him like other humanoid bosses. Be patient, wait for openings, and hit him. Be careful when healing, as Gwyn punishes players who heal. Staying close limits his attack variety to combos, kicks, and grabs.
  • Easy Strategy: Master parrying. All attacks except the grab and kick can be parried. The jump attack has a particularly easy parry window.
  • Super Easy Strategy: Use the large rock to the left of the arena as cover. Keep the rock between you and Gwyn at all times. Attack him through the rock, moving as needed. Only his lunge and potentially jump attack can reach you.
  • Soul of Gwyn, Lord of Cinder
  • Sunlight Medal (if Solaire survived)
  • To Link the Fire Trophy
