Explore Firelink Shrine in Dark Souls Remastered. Learn about bonfires, reversing hollowing, and find key items like Humanity x3 and Firebombs x6.
Walkthrough
- 1Rest at the bonfire in Firelink Shrine. You may have enough souls to level up. If playing as the Bandit class, aim for 10 Dexterity and 12 Faith at this point. Spend your souls to avoid losing them on "Death Runs".
- 2At the bonfire, you can Reverse Hollowing by using a Humanity item. This displays 1 Humanity in the top left and makes you human. Dying will revert you to hollow form.
- 3While human, offering Humanity to a bonfire can Kindle it, granting 5 extra Estus Flasks per Humanity offered. This is only available at a Kindled Bonfire.
- 4Talk to the NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) near the bonfire; he mentions the need to ring two bells.
- 5Head to the well behind the bonfire and pick up 3 Humanity.
- 6Go up the stairs behind you and through the rightmost archway to find 6 Firebombs at the end.
- 7Return and go through the left archway into an area with water. Take a left, then immediately double back behind the wall to find a Soul of a Lost Undead.
- 8Head up the stairs from this item and follow them around to find another Soul of a Lost Undead.
- 9Return to the three archways and go through the middle one. Ignore the NPC for now and head up the stairs. At the top, turn around and grab another Soul of a Lost Undead.
- 10Drop down the hole just before this item and drop again into a lower area. Open the chests to find 6 Homeward Bones, a Morning Star, a Talisman, and 4 Cracked Red Eye Orbs.
- 11Run down the side passage and grab the item in a chest overlooking the graveyard for 4 Lloyd's Talismans.
- 12--Death Run 01--
- 13Drop down from the chest and pass two skeleton corpses on the right (they will re-animate). Grab the item next to the grave for a Large Soul of a Lost Undead. Run back to the bonfire to de-aggro the skeletons, then return to the graveyard.
- 14From the stairs at the top of the graveyard, grab the Large Soul of a Lost Undead on the cliff top.
- 15Run to the two skeleton corpses next to the first item you grabbed, but head right before them. Down here is the Caduceus Round Shield. If you die, return and try again.
- 16From the shield, go back up, then left, passing two more skeleton bodies. To the left is a staircase going down; ignore it. Go to the graves on the right. At the back, next to the big grave and big skeleton, is the Zweihander.
- 17Take a left and grab the Binoculars on the cliff edge.
- 18Hug the left wall from the Binoculars and run back up to a second large grave by a dead tree to pick up a Winged Spear. Return to the bonfire to reset enemy spawns.
- 19From the bonfire, run up the stairs going around the cliff by the tree.
- 20Kill the first Armoured Hollow. Wait for a second one to drop down from above.
- 21Bait out the new enemy at the cliff edge away from the NPC throwing Firebombs above. This is an Undead Soldier.
- 22Head up the stairs. Ignore the Firebomb Hollow for now and kill the Armoured Hollow at the bottom of the next set of stairs.
- 23Run up the stairs and kill the Armoured Hollow here.
- 24Return and kill the Firebomb Hollow. At the top of these stairs is another Soul of a Lost Undead.
- 25Enter the tunnel here and go left to find a Small Undead Rat.
- 26Behind the rat is another Soul of a Lost Undead.
- 27Go back to the bottom of the stairs next to the Firebomb Hollow. Go to the edge of the cliff behind the stairs and drop down onto the section underneath the bridge.
- 28Hug the wall and run to the far end of the walkway for a Ring of Sacrifice.
Tips
- The chest in the water area holds key items if you are missing any.
- Armoured Hollows are tougher than previous hollows and carry weapons. Blocking is crucial to get free hits. They can drop Battle Axes, Shortswords, Cracked Round Shields, Firebombs, and Hollow Warrior Sets. Only hollows wielding the specific weapon or shield can drop them.
- Undead Soldiers are slower but have extra defense. Strafing behind them for a backstab attack is effective. They can drop Titanite Shards, Hollow Soldier Sets, Hollow Soldier's Shields, Longswords, Spears, and Light Crossbows. Only hollows wielding the specific weapon or shield can drop them.
- Small Undead Rats can inflict poison and often appear in groups. They are a good source for Humanity farming.
