Explore the Lower Undead Burg in Dark Souls Remastered. Find Griggs, defeat the Capra Demon, and discover valuable items like the Sorcerer Set and Mail Breaker.

We are going to upgrade our weapon of choice now and to do that, we will need 9 Titanite Shards. Buy the extra off of Andre if need be. Upgrade the Claymore to +5 at this point. The Claymore will be our weapon of choice until the Halberd becomes a viable pick. Keep the Drake Sword equipped for now. Return all the way to where Solaire was on the dragon bridge. You may need to avoid the dragons breath again if it shows up. Use the Basement Key to open the door here. Make your way to the bottom, then head up the stairs to your right. At the top is a shortcut to the first bonfire in Undead Burg that we couldn't open before. Make your way back down, then go down the stairs to find a new enemy.

--Undead Attack Dog--

Although fairly weak, these dogs can be very annoying. They are difficult to hit and can stun lock you into their attacks making them difficult to finish off. They can also build up Bleed on you so if it becomes an issue, use a Red Moss.

Drops: N/A

Kill the three Undead Dogs here in the lower area. Instead of running forward where the third dog was, run back and activate a wooden door on the left. You will hear a voice crying for help so use the Residence Key to open the door. Inside, you will find Griggs. Freeing him here will unlock him as a spell merchant in Firelink Shrine.

* Required for a Trophy

**Only after Logan leaves Firelink

Griggs has a mini questline as well.

  1. Step 1: Free him in Lower Undead Burg
  2. Step 2: Purchase all spells from him
  3. Step 3: Advance Logan's quest until Logan leaves Firelink
  4. Step 4: Buy the final two spells from Griggs
  5. Step 5: Found Hollowed in Sen's Fortress where he drops Humanity, Hush and the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring.

Grab the Sorcerer Set and Sorcerer Catalyst from the corpse in the barrel. Make sure you roll into it and avoid attacking as you may anger Griggs and turn him hostile. Head further down to a dead end with a few Torch Hollows. They are the same as basic Hollows but can do a lot more damage with the torch so bear that in mind. Once they are all dead, grab the Twin Humanities in the back and proceed back where the Dogs were.

When running down here, stop at the first wooden door on the left and strike it. You will hit an enemy behind it that will ambush you if you go too far forward. Do the same with the door opposite. Run a little further ahead and the trap will spring, revealing only one new enemy to deal with instead of three.

--Undead Assassin--

Faster than the other Hollows, Assassins can be annoying to face, especially when they ambush you. They can also parry and back stab you dealing a load of damage and can also apply Bleed to the player.

Drops: Bandit's Knife, Target Shield, Hollow Thief Set

Go back and enter the door on the right side where we killed the Thief before the ambush. Inside is the Mail Breaker. Run a little further ahead and another Thief ambush will ensue. Bai them back up the path and finish them off one at a time. Once they are dead, deal with the two Undead Dogs further past them. Break the barrel under an archway by the Thief ambush to get a Large Soul of a Lost Undead. The furthest right door also has the full Black Leather Set and the Target Shield in it. Proceed to the fog wall for another boss.

--BOSS: Capra Demon--

This boss has very few attacks. They are:

Horizontal Swings

The Capra Demon will swing its weapons at you in a horizontal motion, usually twice at a time, up to four times. Easy enough to avoid if you stay behind it.

Two-Handed Swing

It will equip both weapons in one hand and swing at you. This attack is quite powerful but extremely slow in the build-up and so shouldn't be an issue. Again, hanging behind it will protect you from most of its attacks.

Jump Attack

Finally, the boss will jump at you dealing a lot of damage and potentially break your block. You can avoid this by staying close to the boss at all times.

Strategy

This boss has very few attacks. The main difficulty of this boss comes from the small arena to fight it in and the two Undead Dogs to annoy you. The Dogs should be your top priority so kill them as fast as you can to make the boss easier to kill. Use the staircase to bait the Dogs and kill them that way.

With both dogs dead, the Capra Demon is very easy. Stay behind it whenever possible and swing away until it dies. The stairs can also be used to drop down onto the boss dealing a lot more damage but this isn't really that effective here. Use a resin for extra damage if need be. The Claymore might also be a better weapon then the Drake Sword here. The boss should die pretty quickly without its Dogs.

If the boss is proving to be a challenge, it is possible to kill the boss without entering the arena by throwing Firebombs over the fog wall. This can be a bit tricky to pull off since you need the sweet spot angle and a reliable supply of Firebombs but can lead to an easy win.

Killing the boss will get you the Key to Depths, Humanity and a Homeward Bone. Run further down the corridor and kill the two Assassins here, one is hiding behind the wall on your left. Pass into the next area here. There is an item which we will ignore for now and a door which goes to the Depths which is the next part, but for no go through the door on the left, killing the Archer Hollow on the way up.
