Your guide to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Part 24, covering Deep Keep and other levels. Find all puzzle pieces and secrets with our expert walkthrough!
Alright, let's dive into Part 24 of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze! This section is all about finding those sneaky puzzle pieces and navigating some tricky underwater sections. We'll be focusing on the Deep Keep level primarily, but I'll point out where to grab those collectibles.
Walkthrough
- 1First off, as you head right in Deep Keep, you'll run into a papa painguin. You can totally avoid him, chuck some tuff tucks his way, or just ground-pound near him to stun him, then roll into him. Whatever works best for you!
- 2Continue right until you hit a large body of water. Stick near the surface and look for a rock sticking out. Jump up through the dock on the right side of that rock, then ground-pound the weathered barrel to its left. Grab all the bananas that pop out – they’ll reveal a puzzle piece!
- 3Keep heading down into the chasm. You'll find the 'K' collectible chilling between two finleys in the middle of the area.
- 4If you're running low on air, don't sweat it! Grab some from the coral on the right. Also, make sure to snag the Kong barrel down here. If you swim all the way left through the wall, you'll find a hidden area with a banana coin.
- 5After the horizontal section, you'll reach a clearing with a bunch of items. The puzzle piece you're looking for is in the top-right corner, hidden behind some wreckage of a sunken ship. Swim up through it to find a hidden area with the piece.
- 6Once you've grabbed your loot, corkscrew the button at the bottom to launch a barrel cannon. Use it to blast into the next section.
- 7After that, swim past the three lights on the back wall. This will get the machinery moving. Swim through the spikes, keeping an eye on your air meter. You'll hit Checkpoint #1 here.
- 8Up ahead, you'll find the 'O' inside an air jet, spinning with a spiky rod. If it's in a tough spot, you can use a corkscrew to adjust your aim, but be careful not to swim directly into the rod!
- 9Just a bit further, instead of following the banana trail upwards, corkscrew into the wall just below it. This leads to a bonus area where you can grab another puzzle piece by collecting all the bananas.
- 10After the next clearing, you'll need to corkscrew through some cracked stone blocks. If you break the ones below them too, you'll uncover a hidden area with yet another puzzle piece!
- 11In the following section, you'll face a strong current that switches on and off. Dixie's ponytail propeller is super useful here to fight against it. At the end, swim through all three lights again to change the circuit's direction, opening the path forward.
- 12Now, if you head back after switching the circuit, you'll notice some of the ceiling has caved in. Swim through it to find a puzzle piece.
- 13And if you brought Dixie along, you can use her ponytail propeller to reach even more secrets!
Tips
- Remember that the barrel cannon section (point 2) requires you to fire the fourth barrel to the left instead of right to get a puzzle piece. Be aware this means backtracking to the very first barrel.
- For the puzzle piece rotating with an electric rod (point 3), wait for it to be on the left side of its axis before jumping.
- The puzzle piece high in the air above a gap between pendulum arms (point 4) can be tricky. Time your jump from the top of the pendulum's swing.
- Near the spiky pendulum platforms (point 5), you can either cane pogo, use the jetpack, or Dixie's twirl to grab the puzzle piece above the spikes. If you're playing as Donkey Kong or feeling risky, you can just take a hit from the spikes to grab it.
- The mysterious relic at the end requires some precise jumps and pulling a handle.
